  • Boat deacessioning

Not waiting for John Brady to post this, in their wisdom, the Independence Seaport Museum is deaccessioning some of their boats. A fleet of sneakboxes, railbird skiff, a catboat, and a delicious ducker. I can see some reasons, duplication etc. Some are fine John Brady copies of traditional types. Some have me wondering. Hope that these find good caring homes.https://wiederseim.hibid.com/catalog...y-sale/?q=boat

With two boats at the water and five more in the garage, I think I'll refrain. But I will browse and dream.

I'd be dead meat if I dragged another boat home, but I would love to have that catboat!

At least I learned a new word today: deaccessioning.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

            Thanks for posting this, Ben!

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

So glad it's on the wrong coast! That Finger Lakes boat is very appealing.

Beautiful catboat! The sailing garvey looks like a lot of fun too.

Ducker looks like it has a non traditional rig, chainplates etc. Also no way to row it, so clearly meant as a recreational boat. Still would be a nice one.

                          The Cricket is enticing.
As I recall these were sailed double handed with a sliding seat for the crew.
Rod Mincher writes about them o the earwigoagin blog.

Lot #240 Ladies Gig "Mary" is a nice boat. All Spanish Cedar planking. Not as light as she could be but still rows nicely.

Lot #250 Reproduction Garvey Skiff is a good sailing boat with the ketch rig. Looks like both masts are there but might be missing the mainsail and mainsail sprit? A heavily built boat. Carries nicely under sail and the 2 sail rig makes her very handy. Would be a good family boat.
