    ​Never mind, I can't post the picture.

    Update: Thanks to the efforts of Upchurchmr, my pics appear below in post #12.

    The "winch bit" is displayed in the Oswago Hotel dinning room here in Victoria.
    It is very heavy and I doubt it would float, but it is made of wood.
    Looks to be the real thing but could be a very well done recreation... but why so I'm doubtful.

    It's some kind of a winch or windlass I would think but I'd be curious to know what it did, where, and how.
