    Removing the oak boomkin, and discovering more lovely decay in that piece, the hole is widened to get to the deck beams.
    Fortunately, the white oak structure is hard and sound, and the top planking strake, of cypress, is as well.
    We only have to replace the top-of-the-box.

      And all because of that stupidly designed stanchion base fitting, part of the “pushpit”.
      It was not a solid plate on the bottom. It was open. But there was no drainage channel.
      So water came down the vertical tube, entered that deck fitting, pooled there and filled it up. And eventually went down the screw holes into the plywood.
      No bedding can withstand bad design indefinitely.

      • Launched at last! It took 26 days on a ladder, but we made it afloat. She took-up very quickly because I'd had water inside her up to the floorboards for a week.
