I am new to the Maritimes and looking to join up with an old salt willing to share his knowledge fixing up wooden boats. Lunenburg has a couple one week dinghy building courses each year out of ''The Dory Shop'' but they get filled up fast and are basically unavailable for years at a time. Where does a guy go to get a mentor to help him learn to build and fix wood boats? Wooden boat guys and old school shipwrights are getting as rare as hens teeth these days and it appears to be getting worse all the time. If we as sailors and boat builders wanna continue to see our beloved boats on and around the water, we have to make learning the old ways more accessible. Thankfully we have guys like louis Sauzedde from Tips From A Shipwright YouTube channel still here to guide us. He's the master but I think we need many more just like him.
Just saying.
OK.. .that's my rant for the day.
happy sailing
