Good morning to all of you.
we are building a new sailboat and I need your help about the mast that I need to install.
do you know any way to make the calculations for the mast and the sails that I have to use?

Buy, borrow or download a copy of this : https://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-sear...ney-francis-s/
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Seems you are piecemealing this boat together with no long term plan or direction.
Same as with the deck and hull construction and finishing, these things should be worked out long before the first tree is cut.
do you have a rig in mind ?

I have to go step by step because it is the first 38’ boat that I am constructing.
At next I will be ready for everything I believe.
But now I am constructing and learning.
No I do t have a rig in my mind…
the only thing that I know are the the dimensions and the weight and the waterline .
And the extra weight that I have to put …

          Have you started yet?
If not, use an existing proven design, it will save you a lot of trouble.
If you have started, is it a traditional Greek design, or a more modern one? Traditional, you must have examples to look at.
Nick's suggestion above is very good.

Edit: 38ft is a big first boat...

Not to be negative... but you are getting good advice from really experienced people, and seem to be dismissing half (or more) of it across your various threads. What Bruce said was you should figure out things on paper before you start -- why don't you think you can do that? It's how everyone else does this...

I'm a complete amateur, but even I could see that the rig might have some impact on how you would want the rest of the structure to come together (as the rig on that big of a boat is going to put a hell of a lot of strain on the rest of the boat). Seems bizarre to build most of it before even _thinking_ about what you are going to use to propel it.

Probably a gaff rig? Mast and spars not too long or heavy.
                Impressive traditional build.

Edit: just looked the other posts.. Some excellant advice. Best take it.
