  • Looking for build photos of Eun Na Mara, Grey Seal, Wee Seal, Kotik or similar

I'm not building one of these fine vessels but going off the rails a bit on my CY build. I'm exploring the option of a cuddy and want to see how the cabins on these boats are framed out.

I've had a look at a lot of older build diaries here on the forum, but many have missing photos. Does anyone have a set on Flickr or elsewhere that's still in existence?

    Many thanks!

Steve's build thread on his Eu Na Mara has some of what you are looking for:

Is the Eun Mara builders site still active?

I’ve thought of building an Eun Mara without the cabin.

I am building a CY as well - currently making the aft and fore decks. Fiddly work as it all needs to fit inside the plaking rather than up at sheer line which is what I was used to on my previous 2 builds. Never mind, it tests my woodwork. I do have a removable cuddy on my 17' motor launch, I copied the design from Andrew Denman in Tassie who had previously built the same boat - think the photos (of a Snapper boat) are still on Andrews website. You can still get the brass fittings at the sides of the cuddy from Briggs Marine in Melbourne.
Will be interested to see what solution you can come up with - is you CY to be lug or gunter rigged?

          Regards Neil

WoodenBoat has had build articles about building a Wee Seal, IIRC.

Looks like the he builders group site is gone. Check here though: http://www.alistego.com/Alistego.com/index.html

Deck framing, main aft cabin bulkhead in place

                Decked

Detail of trim/anchor piece epoxied to deck framing, this provided two faces to glue onto

Sides and front coped to deck camber/sheebr /> Does that help?

I can't edit that weird red thumb out, and I'm not sure how it got there...

                      Hi Cole,
                      I just found this thread.
You can see my Kotik build here on "Kotik, Kotik, Kotik!".
There is a Wee Seal in archives as "Building a Wee Seal (Very Slowly)".

                      Cheers,
