I ordered up a few shiny bits for my current build from Classic Marine. Very high quality fittings at prices that make grown men cry. It's my last boat, so what the heck. It's only money.

Expensive but you can't very well put plastic fittings on a nice wooden boat.

Seeing a building project as possibly your last one makes you want to do things you haven’t done before.
In my last couple of projects, I’ve done a couple of things I hadn’t done before.

I’d wanted to build a daysailer with a fin ballast keel, but had no interest in pouring a lead keel or paying to have a custom one cast, and eventually thought of recycling a keel of a boat being scrapped. THis boat has the keel of a J/24.
