    Default where to buy plywood

OK, rank beginner here. Just now ordering plans for Nutmeg. Don't mind spending a little more for lighter/better wood. Understand I might want to look at other than local building supply. Suggestions?

As far as I know, the better marine plywood is imported.
I went through a local supplier first, Maine Coast Lumber.
But they had it drop-shipped from Harbor Freight. You might be able to go directly to them.

Your area usually has very good prices on marine ply.Find a few independent lumber yards and check with them. The closer they are to the coast the better your chances are of finding marine ply.

We have two places here in Mobile that stock a/b fir. One is made by canply or canfor and the other is georgia/pacific. We are about 5 hours from you. Our selection is limited to fir because of price. 1/2 ranges from 55 for the gp to 65 for the canply. I didn't look at the gp material, I ended up getting ac fir. Stamped the same glue and it had less voids than the marine..

Sounds like you have an excuse for sure. Mobile Lumber on Highway 90 has the canadian ply and Bayou Lumber in Bayou la Batre has the georgia pacific. Both places stock 1/2 and 3/4, but it is best to call ahead and see what they have because they can be low on sheets. Mobile lumber also has a great selection of ac fir and 5 ply luan if going cheap.

    Bob,
I'm in Huntsville. The best price I've found for marine plywood was from World Panel Products (http://www.worldpanel.com/Index.htm).

    Has anyone used their PowerPly?
Sounds like the perfect wood panel.
