subaru changes body style and uses the same engine and chassis to build the forester , impreza and s/w
your point ?
F@#ked Over Rebuilt Dodge... ever notice Ford follows Dodge design and style..
Dodge Neon- Ford Focus? hummmm.. Kinda alike ain't it?
So, back to the topic on Ford Focus...
Wear 'em out and throw away type of car.. Sound like one those Escort/Bobcat/Lynx/Fiesta clone..
After 2 - 5 years.. might as well fill the tank up with gasoline to increase resale value..
Kia is cheap, but not everybody taste..
I would stay away from 'em Beemers..

Of course ... f--k the ford ... get a toyota or honda ... as they are OBVIOUSLY superior!
Oh, but wait ... they a WAY more expensive ... may have less warranty, and they will help Japan's economy.
Pull your head oughta you butt ... get the focus for the price.
Tinny? whatever ... just as good as an import ... and you won't have to lose sleep!
Perhaps we should all buy import food, lefty!?!?!?

SHHHH- Dan McCosh- let these fools believe Volvo and Mazda are GOOD cars and Fords stink!

Chrysler JEEP Dodge ... you know, the ones with the LIFETIME warranties!
It may be a brash approach, but calling folks out on their pre-dispositions seems to work just fine!
I am truly and utterly AMAZED about how stupid folks are about buying cars ...
I hear things like this on a weekly basis:
VW Routan is great, the Chrysler is crap ... Guess what? Chrysler makes the VW!
That Mercedes GL is a great SUV ... I wouldn't waste my money on a Grand Cherokee! Oops ... same car.
The Saturn AURA is a nice car ... but Chevy needs to stop making the crappy Malibu! Again, same car.
I'd never buy a Chevy, but I love my new Isuzu Ascender! Same car, again.
Things like this!
I hear them CONSTANTLY as feedback from customers!

Finally, and American sedan that competes with the world, that new Pontiac G8 is top-notch!
Well, the G8 is an Australian Holden!
Just a couple more examples!

If it's any comfort, one of the most reliable cars I ever had was a Duster with a slant 6 and three on the tree. But since I've always bought used cars, I've worried more about condition than the maker.
except...
My first car was a VW squareback. Left such a strong impression, I've never looked at another VW.

prior to that I had a 1990 5.0, an 1970 Bronco and others.
My girlfriend drives a 2008 Mariner. We are happy with it.

I own and drives 1979 Chevy C-30.. Didn't pay a dime for it, just traded a bunch of unwanted junks for it.. and I am happy with it, because everybody stays away from it...

At this point in time,I wouldn't be caught dead in a American
car.......They have a long way to go,and may never catch up
to the overseas automakers........just not gonna happen.
I, myself prefer vintage German steel, over anything
Detroit has produced over the last 25 yrs.
lovin life
we will see.

Am I the only one who has faith in America? I dont think so. Most of us are silent, but we are there..and awakening.

Jack Grebe- I was not expecting your sellout stance ... with all due respect, you are a FOOL with regard to cars!
WHAT a shame, as I (many others thought you were one of the good guys!)
I am sorry for your ignorance!
And I did not think you to be simple-minded!
WOW!
Let me say this ... and say it clearly! Jack- you are an ignorant fool!
NOW! Have a good night, sir!![]()

Thank Brad..
Most people feared of these trucks because of fuel tank locations.. This one used to have dual tanks, I removed one due to rust out, and replace other side with a brand spankin' new tank, and removes all dual tanks set-up..
This one was a commerical duty truck, it had cage around both tanks..
It used to be "South Western Bell" truck, I got it from Volunteer Fire Department..
Did had huge water tank riding back there, and engine mounted generator.. Got rid all of that, I just want the truck itself..
If ya look closely to those wheels, you'll see two-pieces split rims... Original wheels were 9.50 X 16.5", I didn't like 'em because they're actually 2" smaller in diameter than 7.50 X 16", can't get up to speed without over-revin' the engine.. Don't worry.. I am not runnin' split rims now... I finally got hold of set of Chevy drop-center rims.. Big relief from worries about blowin' rings across the neighborhood

Jack Grebe-
I have to again say that you surprise me!
You are rather ignorant to reality, I guess ... do some research!
Really get to KNOW the facts, and you will find CLEARLY that US cars are as good, if not better, than any import.
If you are SMART, you will disregard consumer reports, yahoo, and the like! YEP! Lobby money gets their collective opinions.
Do some REAL research!

When I look "under-the-hood"..
I look at possible things like starter, alternator, water pump, oil filter, sparkplug, stuff that commonly break down.. If I can't access it, forget about owning it.. Because I am not throwing away $1000.00 for something that I could do myself..
That explained why I like pre-80 Chevrolet...

Caught this thread late.
I have a 2000 Focus and am very happy with it. Consistently over 30 mpg, sometimes 34. The ride is a bit stiff, but the handling is solid and quick (I've heard that the later versions have softened the ride a bit and made the handling a little looser.) It has the 2-liter 4-valve engine and a standard transmission. It's fairly quick if you use the gears and revs properly. Very close in performance to the BMW 320i I drove for 19 years previously.
