Bronze eye bolts

I need one for my Whilley boat and can't seem to find the source I once had. Looking for something a little less than the $40 variety I've come up with so far. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a hard time finding a bronze eyebolt i'd trust in a critical application. Have a look at the Wichard forged stainless eyebolts.

If you're in any way in touch with the current price of bronze anything these days, $40 for say, a 3/8" eye bolt is nothing to complain about. And as Mr. Conlin observes, there's hardware and then there's hardware. Spend the dough.

I have one of the ones on the far right in the picture sitting here unused. It is 1/4 x 2"

Up to 6" long x ⅜" dia. -- under $A40 (≈ $US25), plus a few bucks to get it there. (Also ½" dia. if you want.)

To give you some idea about the price of bronze fittings, my last load of bare bronze rod ran $15.00 a pound. Last year it was $9.00 a pound. Five years ago it was 55 cents a pound. If you want decent bronze fittings, grease up that checkbook.

I believe it's a Buck-Algonquin product; so you'd be supporting, make that 'stimulating', the domestic economy two ways.

The Buck Algonquin are a little big and clumsy and not finsihed well, but guess what - if using as a bow eye the winch hardware that you find on most new small/medium trailer rigs fit them. I have polished them and used them on my lapstrake boats. Other products might be prettier . . .

Eric has a good point -- the hooks and clips need to fit inside the eye. I have the Buck Algonquin one from Hamilton, and it takes all three of my attachments -- the trailer winch hook, the brass clip for the bow painter, and the small fitting for the base of the bobstay.

I also have one of the Buck Algonquin ... it's a beast. I think that overbuilt is a good thing when it comes to eye bolts. There's a lot riding on that little bolt.

You said it! I was glad that I'd used the big bolt with backing washers after last year's TSCA Korth row.

We ran out of wind and energy at Owl Harbor and got towed back by Jim and Sunny's Redwing. They tied onto my boat's bowring, then we strung another 3 boats **with some crew** behind that. It was a slow and easy tow, but still a lot more weight than I'd ever thought of when installing the hardware...
