Well I know there are a few that have missed this, but no camera... Did manage to scrounge one up however...



Did actually make a little progress two - I've managed to get two wedges cut to fill spaces between the cradle and ballast. Let's see, there are at least five more to go... Jobless and less time than ever

Also, comments on ultrasonic critter annoyers... Do they work? I suppose I could stick our cat in there for a week or so, and given the way the snow is piled up I don't think she'd get out.

What a dog!!

I've used the ultrasonic "chasers" with pretty good success- one unit in an older 30'X30' single story home. In a short period of time (days) there was no further evidence of mice or voles, but they had acceptable alternatives to flee to. I don't know how effective they might be if the choice was the noise in a solar warmed environment, or the cold, frozen outdoors. Probably worth a try since your space is much smaller, and the irratent effect more pronounced.

Ed, I did not know that the Temple is located in a "snow belt". Near the Worcestor hills?? Looks like you have about as much on the ground as we have up here on the North Shore. 14" on Saturday and another 6" in flurries since.

Good to see that your structural engineering planning and construction is reaping benefits.

Tried those ultrasonic boxes a few years ago and would not waste money on them again. Live traps with bait worked fine.

Remind me. What is that stuff you are calling snow. I seem to remember something like that from my youth. Forecast is for record high in the 50's tomorrow and 60's Wednesday.

We rented a ski place over New Years. They had an ultrasonic critter gadget in most electrical outlets in the house. I can hear them contraptions some and they annoy me, but the squirrel in the walls didn't seem to mind at all and kept us awake for most of the night. Maybe they work better for mice.

I use hav-a-harts at home at the first sign of those little red buggers...The cats work on the mouse population.

We put a buzzer in the garage. It drove the mice into the house. The cat (Persian) is all meow - no bite. Also - mice like dry dog food. It's easier for them to carry away and stash in the walls and under the stove. We also tried the have-a-hart traps. We emptied it as far away from the house as possible. They just went and rounded up their friends and relatives, and came back into the house.

Ed: Is the cathedral sagging, or is that curved line between the colors part of the design ?

Ed, I admire someone who would actually build what I could and should build-except I'd have to have a whole village of them. That's the pain of living in snow country. In summer, we want to be on the water. In winter, we want to be near some fire and building boats. Can't do unless we have a good shelter.

Paul, I think that's caused by the tarp I have covering the plastic; it's not very even. The structure looks OK. The tarp, well let's just say that I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy.

I wouldn't mind a bit of sunshine so I could get some of that snow load off. Probably would do much better in that regard without the tarp, but there was a small failure in planning, and I ran out of the white vinyl tape stuff that is used to reinforce the plastic where stapled. Trying to go back and do it after the fact has proved quite difficult. It would be nice in the winter to get that extra bit of sun. I'm also very surprised that the white paint has stayed in place. I figured that would be peeling off within a month of application.
