Default Anyone know P. Laska and J. Pluth of San Francisco??

    P. Laska and J.Pluth are the last known owners of the 1910 72' Lawley Yacht "Welcome" (previously called "Jane" and "Jule"). They were listed as living in San Francisco and the home port of the boat was Oakland. I would greatly like to contact them as my dad was a previous owner of this boat.

    Thanks so much!!

If there was an "A" Laska and a "P" Laska, could they have started the grocery chain?

Hello, In order to further your quest, you might consider sending a letter to "Latitude 38". It is a very popular and well read West Coast periodical. Good Luck.

Please add some dates - did they own it 60 or 6 years ago?

They were listed as owning the boat in the 2005-2006 Wooden Boat Registry. Beyond that, I have no clue whether they still own the boat or owned the boat for 1 or 10 years before that.

    Thanks!!

I remind myself of one of those stupid telephone jokes.

Hullo, is Mr Wall there? No

Is Mrs Wall there then? No, sorry.

Are there any walls there? No.

Well then what's holding your f...ing roof up?

Posting a letter to Latitute 38 is a *great* idea. A quick Google search turned up a letter FROM "J. Pluth" of San Francisco in the September 2001 issue, so we know they used to read it. Even if they don't read it now, some of their friends may still subscribe.

Thanks for the advice!! I actually was able to find P. Laska, but know very little more than I did before I found him. He actually owned the boat I'm looking for from 1991-1994 and since sold it. I've tried getting pertinent information from him (who he sold the boat to, what marina was it kept at when he said he saw her in Oakland 3 years ago, etc). I haven't heard back from him so I'm guessing he isn't going to be much help to me! I'd love to do a marina search in Oakland, but I live out on the east coast and I don't see a trip out west feasible anytime soon. So, I wait for more info for now.... Thanks for all of yalls help!!!

I was recently working down on the Oakland estuary, but I don't remember anything by that name - there's a gazillion or so boats there however (despite what G. Stein might have thought), so....

Any pictures? I'll keep my eyes open when I'm wandering around -

    Dave
