Default Using Rock Maple for frames?

Has anyone ever used rock maple in laminated or steam bent frames,we know it is a wood that works well and is very stable. How resistant is it in the marine environment?

See your other thread. It's heavy, and rots very fast. Excellent for single use submarines.... Bring extra scuba equipment.

I believe the consensus is negative.
I have lived in close proximity to maples for decades, climbed and trimmed frequently. The wood is marvellous when alive on the tree, or when maintained bone dry under a good protective finish indoors. Outdoors after being cut from a tree , the branches seem to spontaneously degrade from the interior (as if sleeper fungal cells were activated by sawcuts, destroying the fibers) while attracting all variety of insects and other beasts to the sweet sap. While it retains strength indoors dry, by the time it drys outdoors it (in my experience) has no structural integrity.
