    My infrared thermometer only reads to about 400 degrees f. Is that hot enough? It only goes down to about minus 15.DAMHIKT

    Your looking for a pyrometer good to 3k for what you want to do.
    Not cheap by any means in IR version unless there is something I haven't heard of.

    Most cheapies are only good to 500
