Default Wow! A tougher than it looks project

As some of you may know I know have the plans for the Newfoundland Trap Skiff. On recieving the plans I opened them up and was almost overwhelmed. So I thought I would order the compainion CD from Duck Trap.

Well it came in over the weekend and all I can say is Wow! This could turn into a serious project with lots of skills needed to be learned. This is going to be a tough build, but worth it. I need to be able to get to the point where I'm ready to start and that will not happen for a little while yet, but in the meantime I've got a lot of studying and learning to do.

You just now starting to be worried about me? My wife and kid have been "worried" about me for years.

I'm sure you'll make a fine job of it Chad. Just gotta finish the canoe first. You are still working on that right?

The canoe is the part of the things that I need to do to get to the point that I can start. The Balboa is the other.

I worked some on the canoe last night, but that is another topic for another day.

Little steps add up to big miles...one step at a time is how things get done. Focus on each step and soon you will be amazed at the progress you have made with even the most daunting of tasks.

That's because its not my grocery money you're spending on boats.

Absolutely it'll be worth it. And if you get stuck, you've got the best "technical support" operation in the world right here. (Not me, of course ... I dunno no nothin', but there are lots of folks here who do.)

I will certainly be using the techincal support staff here at the WBF.

The first thing that I see is that I'm either going to have learn how to loft or order the loftings from Duck Trap. I wonder if I could do the lofting on the computer and pull dimensions off the computer as needed? The CD said that the loftings are already "proven".

And Jim about the grocery money. My boat building supplies come out of my "allowance". Kinda funny as a kid growing up I had no allowance, as a grownup I have one. I have a "secert" stash which is not so secert of boat building cash that I safe up. So the groceries are safe for now.
