What do you guys do to rust proff your tools while cruising. I seem to remember a thread sometime back but can't seem to find it. Any ideas or any help with the search would be much appreciated.
To kindness,
Dave

I've been using 'Lanocote', which is anhydrous lanolin in a spray can for everyday stuff, and straight lanolin for rarely used items that will be buried under other stuff.
Jonny.
I don't know if I ought to say this, but I take no precautions at all!
Tools live in a toolbox in the form of a drawer under the forepeak built in bunk, and seem to go years without rusting.
Does Lanocote leave any greasy feeling residue on the tools?
I just bring cheap tools and keep them in the driest place I can find. That's served me pretty well for 20 years. Putting oily stuff on hand tools seems somehow....messy.
I have to add that I have a locker that has a water heater in it where I keep my hand tools, and that seems to be a very secure and dry spot. It might be unusual to find such a good spot on most boats.
