My 2 boys and I were out with my Dad setting a flounder net and afterwards we had some thoughts about a better boat. What we need is something like this.
As short and simple as possible. Max beam 4'6" to fit inside trailer sides. We see the transom seat as being removable to form a net box, dinghy width by 12-18" long by say 10" deep. One crew sits in the bow and rows while the net setter knells in front of the net and pay's it out over the transom. Retreval is the same pulling it in over the transom.
We are thinking flat bottom to minimise draft and bow transom to give buoyancy but still fine enough to row into a small estury chop. pics of areas to come.
4' beam on bottom, say 2" rocker aft and 4" forward, say 1" of flare at max beam each side, 1.5" at the transom. Bottom comes to a point at the bow and a triangular steeler plank each side coming up into the bow transom from say just forward of max beam to give a finer entry ............
Cheer's
