Gareth, Thanks for asking.
It's been a busy nine days since launching.
Launching was at F.L. Tripp's yard in Westport Point, MA. They did a fine job of handling the boat.
To my great astonishment, rigging was without serious problems. After rigging:
The shakedown cruise to Mystic and back to Marion had only a couple of snags and we had a couple of short periods of nice sailing, seeing 14+ kts. on the GPS in a close reach in 12-14 kts. of wind. We motored a lot and gained new respect for Tohatsu-san.
Anchored at Mystic:
That's Airlie's bowsprit at the right side of the pic.
I had another obligation and missed most of the show.
Cockpit:
Ship's Dog:
He likes the nets, except when there are splashes coming through them.
Yesterday, I went for a short sail in stronger than usual Buzzard's Bay conditions, about 25 kts. with the usual nasty chop. I unrolled about half of the main and the boat went to windward like a happy puppy, leaping off waves and landing softly on the next. I was too busy to look at the GPS, but i think we were over ten kts. The boat loved it. There were no creaks or clunks from the structure, nor visible flexing in the crossbeams or spars. The spray and the dinghy in a droopy net gave new meaning to WET. I think i'll put my dive mask aboard. It was the most fun I've ever had with pants on.
The original concept for the boat was a fast gent's daysailer. Dick calls it 'a three-hulled Rozinante'. Clearly, both the boat and my skills need tuning before that's reality. I have a LOT to learn about sailing this thing. Whatever I do, it goes faster. Can anyone recommend a book on multihull sailing?

Thanks for the pictures Jim and; yes I will take you up on the offer of a sail.
It sounds like a road trip (refraining from "entering Marion" jokes). We could swing by Newport on the way back. I could probably arrange beds (actually berths) there.
Sure! Name the day.
Jim
i love your boat jim.
please more photos. i'd love to see some of her sailing and her accommodations.
congratulations.
Dick Newick's boats don't hardly have accommodations.
