Bump,
In memoriam.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
I have been lurking around this thread occasionally, one of the best on the forum. Hopefully it will remain here and not get deleted. RIP Clancy.

Sail on Clancy with the wind forever at your back. A "sticky" sure would be nice for this eye-popping,dream nuturing thread.
Cheers!

Very classy, friends, on the occasion of Clancy's birthday. I love this thread and am happy to see it again, and miss Clancy's contributions here.

Time to bring the "Clancy Collection" to the top.
re. Page 5, post 218, "Outbound"
I love this image, too! Very illustrative. I'll add to speculation. Those are Northern Gannetts diving off the whaler. Mostly inhabit waters of continental shelf lending to theory of whaler heading out from New Bedford or such. Are the crew wearing some sort of life jacket?

I think those are oil skin pants.....
Rather than cut and paste dozens of images into this thread, here is a link to the paintings of William Bradford - many of which are set in Arctic regions.
