Not a Launching
It was a combination of leak test and hardware location study on the Islay Skiff.
Slight dripper along the starboard side of the CB trunk. Another port side at the pivot bolt. No biggie. The puppy and I launched at a local lake and rowed her out about halfway or so. No main yet but I ran her back under staysail and jib. With about a 5 gusting to 10- 15 knot breeze.
The thing is this... Feeling her answer to the helm for the first time under sail reminded me that I build these things to sail them. There's no feeling like that. A pile of lumber brought to life. Feeling that long drag beneath her pull her along the breeze as it gusted up and down. Yeah I have to work the leads out for the sheets as they don't lead quite fair and that means tacking the jib is more difficult that it should be. No biggie.
She acquitted herself well...and most of the bugs are ones that'll be worked out before we tackle our two day trip. But she sails like a lady; stately and steadily which is all I could have hoped for. I can't wait to get the main and really put the iron to her!
