    If you are from Central/West of Scotland and want a challenge, and would be interested in helping with the construction of a 40ft gig get in touch.
    We need fundraisers as well as chippys, it would help if you are crazy about wooden boats and slighty mad.

    Don't remember which month, but a year or so ago was the article about the gig launched at Pease Bros in Chatham. If you know what to look for, my smiling face is in a crowd scene.

    Anyway, these are great gigs from the French 19th century naval design. Communities build them, local kids row and sail them. The events include, sail, oar, cargo handling and such. Great great stuff. I think there's a web site.

    Yup only slightly mad, the trouble wont be building it I already have a couple of boatbuilders and a few trainees willing to help, finding the dosh to fund the boat and pay the running costs, will be the hard part, but we can but try!
