Default Q Boats, gotta be a favorite

From the first time I ever saw the Q boat, I have thought her one of the most elegant beautiful designs I have ever seen. Anyone else have any nice pics of these boats, perhaps some interesting info?

Heres the first "Q" I have ever seen... "Nor'Easter"...

All of the boats designed to the universal rule were quite nice.

Elegant is the best word to describe the Q boats!

Absolutely beautiful1 The only "Q" I ever saw was "Teygeta" (SP?) which I saw in Rowayton Connecticut about 1962. She was one of seven named after the Pleades.

Two Q Boats- Nor'Easter and Questa- are at Flathead Lake in Montana, owned by Flathead Lake Lodge. There was an article in Woodenboat on them, perhaps 3 years ago.

might be a silly Q: why is the heads'l so far back on the bow? (i understand the cheating waterline, but wouldn't it work w a sail further forward?) thanks

As a guess, sail area is measured... so you can only have so much for the length... and where the SA sits has to do with balance, etc... You'll see the same thing on Square Metres...

I was just thinking... I really like that boom design. It's "different". What do the engineers say about that?
