    Default 1980's magazine trade: 3 for 1..

I need Small Boat #48.. I was about ready to scan and host a PDF (so everyone could access it) of all the sliding-seat rowing pages in issue #47 (March 1986) .. and there's lots of them .. when on pg.73 at the end of a compendium of data on 10 popular sculls (oars) ..a small little line said: "Next issue: How the sculls scull." Buggers!

...'not without resources; I'm willing to trade three - sequential - issues of either WoodenBoat or SMJ.

....#'s 28,29,30 - J/M/M 1983 - featuring: Rogers 24, Seaway 23, Freedom 21, feature on alum. skiffs ...and 2-part series on building One-hole Aluet Bidarka ...and all the neat ads for a lot of small companies that are no longer.. average issue: 105pgs.

    .....#44 J/f, 45 M/A ,46 M/J - 1982 ..featuring: Sloop Shadow pt.2, SEA BIRD, Sailing the Pride .. Bar Harbor 31s, Vic Carpenter, ACE speedboat, Grand Manan and Novi lobsterboats .. Martha's Tender pts. 1&2 ... average issue: 160pgs.

.....'something more rare?! How about Issue #1 of SAIL. (hint - it was not a magazine like you see today..)

Thanks for the help in finding this issue.

I have SBJ #48. I don't want to part with it but I would be happy to copy the article and send it to you. Let me know.

RB: ...can you scan it? I want to host PDF files of any vintage rowing articles I can find. I'm also honest enough to send it back to you - if you're unable.

Later yesterday I found both WB issues that have Bolger's Light Dory feature (I got the reprint (and a boat), but original art is always better..) and another WB with a neat piece on Chris Martin's Mockingull. Cheers.

I'll see if I can find my vastly incomplete stack of SBJ. I was buying it off the rack at about that time.

If these offers lead to disappointment, please let me know as I may have the magazine in question. It is likely to require a fair amount of digging through piles of boxes of magazines to find it and I may be quite a bit further away than the others, but if necessary I could look.

I've got the issue and a scanner so I'll do it if you wish. Leave word.

Thanks RBJ - but copiers, unless they're $100k make block prints.

Capt' Great! ...slam it in there at the highest resolution your scanner will do and email them to: wetstuff@totalusa.net

I can then 'doctor' them on this end if needed. It appear the paper SMJ used continues to blot the ink; what were perhaps pretty clean pages are now fairly muddy. ...then when you chop it down to make a PDF most normal people can download - it degrades further.

I'd still like to trade to get a live copy. Thanks all.
