    but it looks like one.

    Billingsgate Bass Boat

Greetings from Cape Cod! This is my first post here. I am a friend and neighbor of Walter Baron of Old Wharf Dory Co. Walter is building a boat for me, and I thought you would enjoy seeing its progress.
This is the first hull built to Walter Baron's design, The Billingsgate Bass Boat; a beefed up version of the SSS. I have wanted one since I first saw the design and look forward to launching it this spring.
I don't like center consoles, and will use it primarily as a family boat, so I've asked him to build it with a cuddy and windshield. It should be a handsome boat.
Here's a link to info about the BBB:

I will update some more photos as he progresses.
    Best wishes, Alec

    Eastern Gray,
welcome! Always nice to know that the neighbors have joined the forum!
When I first saw your picture I figured that Walter had joined the forum. Very nice boat and Walter does such nice work. Do you think it'll still be in the shop when his Christmas Party rolls around?

Thank you for the welcome. Yes Adam, it should be there for the Christmas party. I also think it will be trailered to the Cape Cod Boatbuilders Show in February. It has been very exciting seeing it come together. My family and I are really looking forward to launching her in the spring! All the best, Alec

Great looking boat. It may not be a SSS but there was one hiding under the bed back there somewhere.

Here's the latest. It's getting flipped back over today. The side decks are on and this month we'll see the cuddy. This is the Pettit "Ocean blue" paint, which in real life is a bit darker than it appears in this picture. Happy new year! Alec

Here she is - today was the maiden launch and she performs wonderfully. Hats off to Walter. Hopefully I'll have some pics of her on the water to share later. Cheers, Alec

Neat as a pin! Shows the result of a whole series of good choices and wholesome construction.

I love the dashboard, nice chunk of wood. Very clever and attractive how the wood grain bends around the bezel of the steering wheel.

Thanks LW. Walter is a very methodical fellow and he chose a nice piece of local black locust with a knot right where the wheel would be. The dash is finished with Crabcoat, the locust rod holders you see are oiled. There is a passenger seat on the port side as well, but ya can't really see it in the pic. It was great to finally have her on the water! Alec

Finally got some pics of the Bluebird underway... sorry 'bout the quality, but its all I have presently. She absolutely flies with the E-tec 50; 30 knots wide open at around 5K rpm. I have little interest in going that quick, but it'll be nice if I ever need to. Here's wishing you all a great summer on the water - Alec
