Hi All,
I am about to order the paint to redo the hull of my 24 foot Skiff Craft. Can someone give me an idea on how much I will need to buy? Also, can someone recommend an artical or book on boat painting? I am kind of new at this.

In this section, "Building & Repair", scroll down until you reach the thread entitled "WB FAQ Building and Repair, ver. 2.0". Open it, scroll down to "P - Paint, Pictures, Planking, Planing, Plywood, Pine Tar", and begin reading. There's about fifty years of experience posted there.
Well, if you buy from George Kirby, you can get a gallon at a time. When it looks like it's time for the next gallon, call George and it will be there in no time. It usually depends on the color, how much thinner you use and the number of coats. Light colors go far. Dark colors don't. Kirby's paint keeps very well too so a little left over isn't a bad thing. One more thing about Kirby's paint: 3 quarts equals one gallon, price wise.

Figure 120 square feet per quart times as many coats as you think you'll have patience for, plus one coat, plus 20%. Round up.
