    Default Night Sailing

Well its been unseasonably warm this week. Its 75 deg out and a strong thermals around 5:30 so i grabbed lucky dog and said what the hell Let's Go Sailin Heading out into heavy chop and diminishing daylight with the sails raised and running lights on was a new experience for me.

As we rounded Worlds End the breeze really picked up. It was an almost scary situation since the winds around here can be fickle and gusty I had not realized how much i used my sense of sight to forecast gusts as the moved across the water. With out that sense i had to hone my instincts and other senses like hearing the wind direction and approaching gusts and their subtle directional change.
It was scary but also within my learning curve. I gained confidence enough to handle the situation and pulled in to Garrison to enjoy a well earned beer. With the sails stowed it should be an uneventful motor home.
