Bedding compound between plank layers

I have been asked by a client to opine on suitable modern materials to use as a substitute for linen and white lead between plank layers on a 57-ft classic form double-planked sailing hull. I have my pig-headed views on this, but thought that I might benefit from the group-think available here. Any comments? (About bedding compounds, not my pig-headedness, that is.)

Recommend that you do a subject search in this forum as this very topic has been covered extensively. Also, you might benefit from contacting the manufacturers themselves (ask for a Technical representative) and they'd be glad to help you.

Whatever you do, do not use 3M 5200 between the layers or else you'll never get them apart (3M 5200 is very permanent, also kind of stiff for this application).

Tar paper bronze stapled to the first layer bedded/or not in roofing tar and then another layer/or not of tar for the 2nd layer to bed in. Messier than linin/lead. )
