It must be Brit humour day!

    THAT is funny.

Nothing else matters but how I raise my children ... and their opinion of me, as a father.

Bears a striking resemblence to conversations we've had around here.

hardly Brit humour. John Clarke is a Kiwi( the bald guy) otherwise known ( in the past )as Fred Dagg.

John Clarke and Brian Dawe have a spot on the '7:30 Report' every Thursday night on ABC (oz). They give me a reason to live from week to week. And yes, John Clarke is a Kiwi, but he has learnt to use vowels.
This link will take you there http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/
    Enjoy

The Clarke & Dawe sketches are even funnier when watched with someone from overseas...

Yup - same people and just as good there is a TV series called "Bremmner Bird and Fortune" - it has lost something of its original edge from the Major years but is still well worth the watching.

I wouldnīt be surprised if John Bird is the naughty chap behind the humour till this day. His soft-spoken quips 'between the teeth' set the pace for the whole performance

My recollections of them were during the Labour Govt. years. At one time Foreign Affairs Minister, Arthur Bottomley - guess why ? - was square in their sights. Some very naughty skits they put on stage !

Glad to know that they still have their show on the road. Maybe that is why they both look so extraordinarily well.

The depressing thing is that those responsible for disasters argue the same way this comedian does, only a bit more rhetorically able, so even if the message doesn't differ much from this commedy most people won't get the bitter truth.

You are right, Martin. And isn't it good that we have artists like Clarke and Dawe to highlight the big comedies and horrific tragedies of government, business and bureaucracy. The bitter truth is all the more poignant for the comedic presentation.
    Treasure the artists.

I'm in the same boat. It took a while to catch on.
It's a sad comment when this can be mistaken for a real (whatever the hell that means) interview.

I guess you guys are becoming too accustomed to the canned laughter type "humour" on American TV?

No, it's just too close to a typical Bush interview.
