iron fin headed bolts?

Have any of you ever heard of this? I thought all fin headed bolts were bronze.

We had a bunch of them on Boreal. She was built in Argentina. I had assumed they were somehow fabricated by the builder in 1952.

I have seen galvanized iron fin headed bolts used in several boats.
Personaly I have always made them out of bronze. There are many on line sources. Just search for "fin headed bolts".

Boyles, Finned bolts or fin headed bolts are used like carriage bolts.
To my knowledge they are boat specific.

These are fin head bolts. As you can see, they look nothing like carriage bolts, although their use is similar.

Plow bolts have a square section under the head,
Fin heads have, well, a Fin
