Just go this email from Glen-L and thought I'd post it here as I recall folks looking for a source for Hankinson designs not too long ago:

After Ken Hankinson's retirement in 2005, his skillfully designed boat plans were shelved never to be seen again even amidst an on-going stream of requests for his designs…or so we thought.

Who can forget Ken's range of classic double and triple cockpit runabouts such as the "Tahoe" 19 & 23; the long, narrow '30's classic, "Miss Chris"; and his authentically-styled "barrelbacks" which continue to be requested by many...

We are pleased to announce that all of Hankinson's designs are now available exclusively through Glen-L Marine designs in Bellflower, California.

Ken worked for Glen-L from about 1965 to 1987, so his design expertise and commitment to detail are very much in line with the Glen-L philosophy. In addition to his boat plan business, Ken was writer of a monthly column in Trailerboats for 17 years and wrote articles for various other magazines including Boatbuilder and the former Western Boatman.

After successfully founding and operating "Ken Hankinson Associates" for 18 years, Ken has moved on to greener pastures…or should we say, bluer oceans. Hankinson offered plans from other designers in addition to his own until his last year in business when his catalog showcased only his 50+ signature designs...

Glen-L will sell all of Ken's stock plans, patterns and study plans from that final catalog, exclusively on their website www.BoatDesigns.com. Good news. I also hope this will include the plans that were not his designs but sold at his old site. Some great boats there and it would be a shame if they were lost to diy builders.

And Flicka's bigger sister Allegra 24 is a nice design that was not one of his own but Ken used to sell also.

The Allegra is nothing more than a Flicka with the frames spaced out...I'm waiting to see that also...

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, it was just a matter of time. I suspect this is why glen put on the forum the disscussion area concerning ken's plans to see if there is enough interest in his designs to make a buck.

Ken does have some neat designs and some that would be a shame to be lost, his little steel tugs for one. Although I have no interest in building one, they are very neat though.

Boyless- on glen-l's homepage, scroll down on the left side to customer's photos, and you will find a couple hundred finished boat photos.

Use the search function...I found Ensenada...which I have been looking for since Ken shut down. You don't get any pictures...just a bit of a description and an order blank for either study plans or the real thing...at least that's what I got. Plans are a smidge steep at $300 but still swallowable (I think Ken had them for a hundred and change but I may be mistaken...it's been a while and my memory sucks).

Nope...no Allegra or Flicka...at least not yet. The email says that they will only have the designs from the last catalog...which was only Ken's stuff.

I had it on relatively good authority that there was a legal dispute over those plans....and if they aren't on the list I betcha Hankinson lost......

I have been diggin' round in Glen-L site quite often, at least twice a week..
The only thing that I don't like is unfinished boat photos that their customers been posting... Seen many pictures of started projects, none are finished..

Just go to the page and find the new plans link. Otherwise, search a plan name (ensenada for example) and there is a lineage link on top, you will see something along the lines of "new plans - ken hankinson" or something to that effect.

Really love those tugs, and some of his pocket trawler designs. Perfect for us PNW types.

Actually hankinson has a 26 ft. motorized st. pierre also, that is a lot better design then glen-l's with a much wider bottom. Trailerable as well.
The prices have doubled, maybe glen-l is getting ready to increase their prices too. Onward and upward.
