My project has gone very well.

I've steam bent in approximately 30 new ribs into my 17' center console. (only broke 2)

I'm mainly using #10 silcon bronze screws. Although some screw heads will be covered by wooden plugs most will not. What kind of putty should I use to cover the screw heads?

I took several digital photos and if I can figure out how to post them I'll do so later today.

I make my own putty of epoxy and microballoons, where I'm covering it with paint. If you're using it to fill countersunk screw holes, then you want to use a lot of microballoons, so that the mixture is thicker than peanut butter. That way, when it's time to repair, you can remove it easily, and it will come out of the screw slot with just a light hammer tap of the screwdriver.

It has the benefit of sanding easily and holding paint very well.

    Thanks Scott,

What are micro balloons? Where do you buy them? What do they cost? What kind of epoxy do you mix in with the microballoons? If it's not too much trouble can you provide me with the recipie?
