    Question WBF - VYC....Whaddya Think?

    The WBF Virtual Yacht Club.....

We'll have to design a burgee....maybe something with a computer mouse and a sail....simple line drawing. Luke?

Instead of reciprocal moorage, we could have reciprocal computer privileges !

Say, $10 gets you a burgee and membership.

Now...we'd need a commodore, and a vice....hmmmm..... Dingo? Dave Fleming, or Bob Smalser, or...or...or....

Worth pursuing? (there's always room for ONE more burgee!)

A good burgee will cost more like $30 but I'd be in (it'll cost more for a boat to fly it from!)

Burgee...A heavy line drawing showing a sailboat (stylized) anchored to a...mouse)

Our sponsors have WoodenBoat burgees in three colors:

    Green

    Canada Red - eh

    Blue

I propose that the Liberals among us use Blue, and the Conservatives and Canadians use Red. Those apolitical oddities among us or those whose environmentalism transcends their politics would use green. Now all we have to do is get our sponsors to do one up in pink for the poofters.

Coat of arms for our polyester blue blazers and cheap captain's hats: a spline weight, a ball of marline, a gronicle and a bilge pump rampant.

    And stationery.. don't forget stationery!

    Motto, anyone?

Is that politically correct terminology now Milo? We've just had the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras here last weekend. Should they rename it the Poofters Mardi Gras?

Amend it by apliqueing "VYC" over the main emblem.

    I'm in.

Maybe instead of appliqueing "VYC" we could stay on the pictoral theme, and have the simple line drawing of a computer mouse, with a bit of the cord, looking like a 'tail' streaming behind?

Burgees can be made quite effectively in Taiwan......I have the Slocum Society flags made there. Also they make pins and pocket emblems for blazers, but I haven't had any made in years, just the flags.

It's a bit sad that you got nearly 300 posts to the Pub but less than 20 to the Yacht Club in roughly the same time.Still,I hope it floats.
I'm wearing a virtual blazer, captains cap and canvas deck shoes while drinking a virtual G&T.Aaahh best of both worlds.

No, chuck....I figure you'll be the Grand High Pooba (in perpetuity) for the WBF - VYC. And ya won't have to change your blazer, just carry a mouse in your pocket, with the tail out. I think that'll be our "insignia"!

ah..Nanoose...dunno I git to carry a ceremonial sword or something....Slocum carried a winchester to keep pirates off the deck...I have an old 1892 winchester with saddle ring that should work......but the Katana and wakazishi would look a little out of place.....maybe a bowie knife stuck in the belt with a pair of old colt pistols......then we have black powder for ceremonies....

Blazer? I just don't know if I could be seen in a Chevy.

Let's see. I still have my Service Dress Blues with the stripe and a half on the cuffs, but it's a 42R coat and 34" waist pants. Now I take a 48R or 50R, and 38" wasit. I don't think that'll do. I have a black sport coat, but it's not really suited to the part either.

Can't I just wear carhartts, Birki clogs, and a fleece pullover covered with sawdust?
