Looks like a pre-CBS strat, small logo and small tuners which means 60s or late 50s. The finish is beat-up and the fingerboard could use some work. But she does okay.

Here's Orianthi Panagaris. Greece's secret weapon against the German bankers. This aggro guitar-shredding isn't my thing, quite, but it's good to see a girl ripping up the guy turf.

Hey Chip, How are you doing? I do save my tomato seeds. If the heat and drought don't get the best of my maters I should get a pretty good crop.

I'm fine. Shame about the weather: hot and really windy. If there wasn't a windbreak around the outdoor garden, it'd all be dead. I put row covers over the new strawberry bed so the wind wouldn't beat the transplants to death. The WG and I did a taste test: the outdoor strawberries (Fort Laramie) vs. the greenhouse (Seascape). The outdoor berries won by a mile. I clipped off the runners and am trying to get the leafy nodes to root in the greenhouse. I'm going to try the Fort Laramie plants in hanging pots in the greenhouse next winter.

Wonder if a high row cover (non-woven fabric like Agri-Bon) with open ends for ventilation might not be a good deal for your extreme heat? Give the plants shade and hold a bit of moisture, while keeping the wind off.

I've been giving away tomatoes— too many p'raps— to everyone who stops by and looks at the greenhouse. What with pruning the sprawlers, I'd built up a bag of green tomatoes. So I made green tomato chutney (which turns out a nice brown) and bottled it in jelly jars. Neither of us is keen on fried green tomatoes. I use green tomato puree for green chili, but still end up with quite a bit frozen in zip-locs. I'm letting the chutney bottle-age for a while before trying it. If it's good, I can always give that away, and hoard the ripe tomatoes.

Every seed potato I put in the ground came up. Looks like a bumper crop of spuds this year.

Maybe I should try the row cover thing. I like to have enough tomatoes to can a couple of dozen quarts. That will get me and the kids through the winter with out buying any at the store.

It'd have to be woven steel, to catch that one.

You are probably right. And a steel net over the juke box and a bucket of quarters to keep her in. Maybe we could lure her in some how.

Quick with the wit that Chip, lol.

Hey Bobby, just a word of warning don't be lending your powder flask to Lefty. The way he's talking about blowing up that tree I think a lot of nearby tools are going to go with it

If Lefty goes for that tree thing, you might find some nice tools up your way, finders keepers.

Working for the FS on the Wasatch Plateau, my boss was a blackpowder riflemaker named Mont Swasey. He told me what to buy and then helped me build a beautiful Leman .50 Trade Rifle:

Same brown-iron hardware as this, but a nicer stock: fiddleback maple with an acid stain (old nails soaked in sulfuric acid, that gives a deep color) handrubbed for weeks with linseed oil. I got a good-sized buck the first fall, and won a fryingpan shoot at the Green River Rendezvous. Slim Pickens came up and tried to buy the rifle, but I wouldn't sell. A couple years on, someone stole it.

Just found a photo of Mont on the web, with a 2007 obit:

Wonderful guy and a superb riflemaker.

Very nice rifle Chip. I would really like to own a Pennsylvania long rifle with a curly maple stock, 36 caliber would be fine. Don't know what I would do with it since I don't kill things any more.

I remember that Chuck had a thing for fancy old black powder front stuffer rifles. I've not had much to do with muzzle loaders, but have got to play with black powder cartridge rifles; C Sharps and the like. Just like anything else the (good) old stuff is so well built its amazing. .

Black powder flask?..... I have a Sterling silver flask that was my Grandfather's..... Doesn't that black powder affect the taste of the tequila?..... (Prolly make it taste better.....)
And hell no, there won't be any tools flyin' through the atmosphere when I turn those Oak trees into stove wood.... The trees are all the way on the other side of the property, and the house is in between the trees and the barn..... You might get a Aldo puppy in the air-mail though!.....

I'm all about safety..... I made sure that Carter was out the driveway before I started shooting carpenter bees with the .22.... And when I burned that brush pile last week, I only left it unattended for 3 hours while I went to the bar..... C'mon! Whaddaya take me for!? I'm not gonna do something silly like drill through a 4" thick piece of English Oak directly into my left index finger, or something!...... Errrr...... Ummmmmmm................ At least not twice......

What?..... Bobby..... Yer sposed to be translating for Skippy, not channeling her!
..... And no, Chip..... Don't be silly! A .270 for squirrels?..... That's why I built the .50cal cannon!
It's not raining. It didn't rain yesterday (But it was chilly) Today is sposed to be warm...... And I did something to my shoulder yesterday afternoon..... Picked something up wrong or something.... Feels like a pulled tendon.... So I may have to take it easy today..... Nothing heavier than 12oz. beer curls, and lawn mowing..... Good thing there's a beer holder on the lawn tractor....

Mornin Lefty, I think when we hooked the Tequila pipeline to Skippers boat I may have tested it a little to much, but I had to be sure it worked. Like Skipper would say <3+ or something like that.

I hear that..... It's amazing how fast the weather idiots can change the forecast...... Now it's sposed to top out at 68f today.... 20 degrees cooler than what they were saying it was gonna be..... If they'd pull their heads outta their....... Computer monitors..... and look out the window, they'd see that the wind is out of the east...... That means cool and damp..... Not warm and dry....... Idiots......

Well...... Despite the turn in the weather, the grills are already hot, so........ Today we have cheese burgers with a whole array of possible combinations to pile on top.... Sliced onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, mushrooms........ Served with hand cut fries, and coleslaw. There's delectable Bass fillets, which can be marinated briefly in a tarragon/lemon butter before flash grilling, or not.... Served with jasmine rice, or corn on the cob.... And there's chicken thighs, with either zesty sweet-n-savory barbecue sauce, or a zippy Thai lime/coconut milk marinade/baste..... Served with corn on the cob, fries, rice, or a double stuffed potato......

    Morning all
Happy Fathers day to all you dads.
Down at Rockaway beach Sending Erica's Brother off to Nippon in style. house full of little nieces and one little nephew.
blowing rain at about 20 nkt (kinda typical oregon coast), looks like a fine weather for fishing.
Laid my eyes on something I haven't seen for a number of years; A fish eagle soaring around searching the beach.
