It's another Thursday morning. I can always tell when it's Thursday morning.... They just feel so............................................ Thursday.
Today we have marinated beef short ribs grilled over hardwood charcoal. Served with a baked potato, and Steamed baby string beans.
Hot turkey on lightly toasted rye, with mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce, and bacon. Served with fries and a pickle.
    Mock turtle soup.
Beer battered deep fried cod cheeks, served with onion rings, and fresh kim chee.
Bacon, egg and cheese on sourdough toast, with home fries, and fried tomatoes.
Special on tap: Black dog ale.

You leave that poor turtle alone! Donn will be around soon enough to absorb all the mockery you can muster.

He's out trying to light the BBQ, he'll need a brandy when he gets back in.

    Page 666?

Gareth, I too have a sore foot. and I'm on the other side of the world, amazing, right?

I was in the house and felt a lump on the out side of my sock.......I tried to kick it off....FORWARDS!!!!!!!.......what a maroon.....it was a decent chunk of timber, probably off the floorboards.....and I drove it deep into the ball of my foot. Still hurts nearly a week later.

Might be time for a brandy for me.

My foot hurts too! Maybe we're related!

I figured out that putting a bread bag over my IV tube and strapping the ends tight with rubber bands works better than Saran wrap while showering.... I'm pretty smart that way. Carter suggested that tomorrow I try putting it over my head instead.....

Again..... Not a single squirrel to be seen in the yard all day..... And I actively sat and waited for the bastards...... Ok..... I placidly sat and waited.....

My foot's better now. It's a fast-paced broadband whirled that we live in. I took a look at the excavation site (ever tried to dig a splinter out of the ball of your foot? There's a lot of tough skin there) and thought that it looked a bit proud. Long-story-short....there was a very fine, thin splinter off a splinter in there. Ewwww.

It was shocking......I think I need a gin.

Give 'im the bottle and a clean glass. Slosh a bit on the wound and a bit more down the hatch, and you'll be good as gold.

Running across a room in my parents' house, I felt a shock— as if I'd touched a live electric cable. My Da looked at my foot and got a funny expression, so I bent my leg up. Not much blood. But there was the eye of a big needle sticking out of the ball of my foot right behind my toes.

He called my mother to fetch the vise-grip pliers. She held me under the armpits as he drew it out. Pain doesn't really cover the way it felt, and it kept on pulsing for an hour or so— hit some nerves or the bone, I guess. Big harness needle over 2" / 6cm long.

Makes me shiver, remembering. Ever since then I can spot pins, needles, nails, etc. on the floor or carpet from across the room.

    Darn!

Don't waste any gin on the wound, over the last three days I've made a crater in the sole of my foot that'll take half a tube of antiseptic cream.

I soaked my foot for days. Never got infected, which was the only lucky thing about it. I even spot needles in the carpets at other peoples' houses. During parties. Sort of a hybrid between a phobia and extrasensory perception.

Pass me the rum, Cockspur it is. Time for some musical diversion?

Maybe that's where my phobia of needles comes from.... Scuffing my feet on the carpet in my parent's bedroom one winter day, in order to build up a significant charge of static electricity to zap the cat's nose with, I buried a sewing needle up to the eye in the end of my big toe. It went straight through the two knuckle joints. I was probably 4 years old....

    So..... (Ugghhhh! <<<<<<<<<<<<<shiver!!!!!!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>)
    Let's move on now.....
Beef stew with fresh crusty bread and butter, and a luscious salad of baby field greens, and bosc pear slices.
Roast whole Red Snapper with white rice cooked in chicken broth, and steamed asparagus with lemon butter. (Served family style, so get a friend)
Clear Puerto Rican Chicken soup, with toasted baguette slices and melted Gruyere cheese.
Jumbo shrimp, wrapped in smokey bacon, served with an assortment of dipping sauces from garlicy basil pesto to screaming hot sri racha.
    Special on tap: Pilsner Urquell.

Coffee and cinnamon rolls for me.

Insomnia.......it's why breakfast is early today.

How's it going BobbyT? I hope it's going as well as can be. I went out last night to a real pub, had a beer and some laughs. One of the problems with going out in Christchurch is when you meet new people, you've got to swap "war stories" about your house repairs/rebuild.......and I'm just sick of it.
    Still, had some fun.

Well, I'm only 10 minutes from the airport.....after that, things get a bit slower. If I get the right connections, I'm less that a day away......

I'll go to any lengths for beer and smoked brisket.

Regretably, I'm stuck here for the next little while as our rebuild is about to take a lurch forward (I hope) and we meet with the builders and insurance rep late next week.

Of course, I could be back by then and full to the gills with smoked meats.
