Got a Fisher cat in the neighborhood.... Haven't seen a squirrel in 3 days. The cats are sticking close to home, and not even asking to go out at night. Scary critters.....Kinda like a miniature Wolverine, or a giant Weasle.

Whole belly cherrystone clams, beer battered, and deep fried to a crispy golden brown, Served with tartar sauce, a zesty tomato/horseradish sauce, and a hot teriyaki sauce.
Grilled chicken ka-babs, that have been marinated in a honey/orange/hot pepper glaze overnight. served on a bed of white rice with baby string beans, and marinated artichoke hearts.
Smoked pork spare ribs. These are not "baby back" ribs, these are full sized ribs with lots of tender meat. They were marinated in my special goop for 24 hours before being put into the smoker with sage, and cherry wood smoking chunks for 6 hours until the meat just about falls off the bone. It's sweet, smoky, slightly piquant, and oh so messy!
Special on tap: Portland Oregon Honey Beer.

OK..... I'm getting pretty tired of the poor attendance here.... You think I can run a free virtual PUB with no virtual patrons?
If you want to stick a spike through my heart, just go ahead and do it, but I'll be damned if I'll go out with a whimper!

Wow. Spinner is on the road, Larry is probably without power after some storms, (Larry - you OK?) Alan is probably busy on his boat, haven't seen Dan around in a while. Maybe we'll just have to have these guys in:

Peanut butter and jelly on toast?
Five-alarm chili? (with chunks of chuck steak, of course)

Or perhaps a Monte Cristo sandwich? That always sticks to one's ribs.

    Haven't seen Alan in months....
A cloudy dark morning here, expecting rain by afternoon.....I was going to burn the massive brush pile by the driveway today, but counter to intuition, today is a "no burn" day. Seems the powers that be prefer high pressure days so the smoke doesn't hang around.
Despite the lack of patronage, I have savory meat pies, with mashed potatoes, and baby peas.
Sliced boneless breast of chicken, with gravy, braised ginger carrots, and a wild rice pilaf.
Baked ham on pumpernickle with dijon mustard, crisp romaine lettuce, fresh tomato, Vidalia onion, and gouda cheese, served with fresh fruit, and mint tea.
Grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of cream of tomato soup.
Daily drink special: Bloody Marys made with spicy V-8.

Well, the sun is now over the yard arm, so can I have a G & T whilst you heat one of those pies, no mash or peas though, just as she comes.
    Plymouth Gin for preference please.

The midnight special is "popcorn" and I've tapped an ice cold keg of Budweiser.
    Yeah you heard me, Budweiser!
We gotta finish the keg before Lefty opens up in the morning so drink up.

Smoky pork sausage in a light puff pastry "jacket", with broad beans, and hash brown potatoes.
Boneless breast of duck, pan seared and served on a bed of rice with a raspberry/red wine reduction. Served with a crisp garden salad, and crusty oven warmed bread.
Grilled cherrystone clams with fettucinni Alfredo, and fresh steamed asparagus.
    Special on tap: Tusker lager.

It's grey and raining here. I need a scotch and ginger to perk me up, if I may.
Can you chip some potatoes for french fries please Lefty, with a dish of mayo for dipping, I'm not in the mood for any thing fancy.

    Still.

    Reasons to be cheerful.

The Under Manager has just completed the first long ride on her 'bike. 70 miles through the Lake District, in the rain.

I'll be back later, but I'll put in my order early - Duck sounds good, but I'll go with smoked duck breast with a small salad, boiled new potatoes and asperagass with a nice cold bottle of lambic. I'll let the last one be bartender's choice.

Need a nice 3 a.m. snack.....nice romaine salad with fresh grapefruit sections and praline pecans with raspberry vinaigrette would be nice, frogs legs with light soy/lime juice and grilled sweet onions would be nice, a nice sized plate of them, sorta like a large plate of buffalo wings.
Zaya in a glass with some ice cold fresh squeezed orange juice would be very much appreciated....

OK.... Fine..... I'm off to Honolulu at 0'Dark thirty Tuesday morning, so as of Monday afternoon, the PUB doors will be locked until I return.......Unless one of you wretched ingrates would like to take the ball and run with it for a week or so.....See how you like coming up with daily menues while doing everything else you do during the day, and trying to think of a decent drink for the daily special.....Not to mention occasional musical appearances.....
What's that I hear?........ Crickets?........ Chime in before the lock goes on, or it's Lean Cuisine and Budweiser for a week or so.....

Hawaiian torture saga. Ever spent 24 hours a day 7 days a week in a strange apartment with three senile geriatrics, one of whom is a nut job bible thumping scripture quoting freakshow? I'm just hoping I get a few hours on my own when Dad and his old roomy go golfing..... The freakshow called tonight to "Express [her] concerns about having your father stay with us..." Thanks a lot nutcase! coulda said something back in March before I spent 5 grand on freakin' plane tickets!

Well, sounds like a saga at any rate. I think it will be flavored by Cullen's adventure, no?

I've been outta town for the last week working back at the kennel. Man, it was warm down there in God's country! But, it looks like this week through the holiday will be very nice indeed throughout the Great Lakes

Tuesday 4AM... And it ain't gonna be no freakin' holiday, I can tell you that much... Especially after the phone call I got from the room mate's psychotic wife last night essentially un-inviting us, and saying that her husband is so old and crippled that they can't take my father anywhere alone so I have to be at his side 24/7.....

Hey...we could start a "house of ill repute" in the basement...the good stuff is already there and ya wouldn't have to drag it upstairs....maybe the place would show a profit.
