And I'd rather sit in a hot humid pub with an open door, and have a breeze waft through, than an air conditioned meatlocker of a pub with stale air and that constant drone of the A/C blower..... Both scenarios have potential for good sight seeing however....![]()

Good morning Bobby!
Beautiful day starting out here! 80f and sunny.... No breeze, but that's OK.... Makes sighting the cannons in on the squirrels easier....
How're you this morning, sir?
Never trust a man with a clean workshop.
Good so far, It is 72° headed towards 102f this afternoon. So I guess I will just mess around the house and watch the world go by.![]()

Sposed to get up to 99 here tomorrow.... I'll believe it when I see it...
They also say 93 for today.... But they said that yesterday, and it topped out at 86, which is pure heaven to me.

Was a nice day yesterday, albeit a bit sticky here. Enjoying our new A/C system at the house. Our old one was on it's last legs and the replacement has been nice. We keep the house about 80°-85°F, but the A/C drops the humidity to make it comfortable.
What's on the menu for lunch. I'm getting tired of bacon wrapped meatloaf, stuffed ribeye and home-made chicken tenders from SWMBO Jr.![]()

G'mornin Ladies... and Gents.
57 here... headed for 85. Sounds perfect. Working in the shop in the morning - with all the doors open. Waterfront Blues Festival in the pm with a broad-brimmed hat and (hopefully) a cold beer.
For now, though, maybe a big mug of Lefty's finest java.

Hey, you might get a chance to perspire.![]()

I don't perspire..... I glow.
Today we have barbecued Thai seasoned chicken legs..... It's complicated, but basically it's a lime juice based marinade, with some zing, but mostly it's refreshingly mild.... Does not keep well though, so no leftovers.
We also have cheese burgers.
We have fresh keilbasa.
We have lovely boiled pound and a half lobsters.
We have pie.... (It is pie week, after all) Apple pie with extra brown sugar, and home made vanilla ice cream.
We have potato salad.
We have corn on the cob.
We have cucumber, red onion, fresh tomato (Thank you Bobby!), and green bean salad.
We have Amber and Red in bikinis serving ice cold drinks poolside.
Special on tap: Harpoon IPA.

Man! Aldo smells like a landfill!
Who hid a bag of rib bones, or something where he could roll in them?...... I know I disappeared the vast majority of them by Sunday morning.....
Bobby....... Beer?.....
I gotta hit the barn for a bit, and I want to make sure you don't go dry....

Rain and more rain coming our way.

Beer would be good, thank you kind sir.

I'm fine, busy as all hell but that's my doing!
you can have all the cool and wet you want. I'm done with it!
Stay cool guys. I'll stop in again later.

Sophie![]()

Nope.... Like I said, I disappeared the vast majority of the trash on Sunday morning, and the remainders are all accounted for in sealed garbage cans.... Thankfully Aldo (And more importantly Waldo) has not yet discovered the joys of garbage can rugby....
I'm thinking it must just be stinky puppy stench....

Nahh... Just found something nice and dead to roll in. I was feeding my dad's cat a few weeks ago. Every morning I'd stop in fill her bowl, change her water and check the litter-box for "presents". She was still tipping over the garbage can looking for other treats. Every single day, although there was nothing new going into the garbage.

Sure is hot out there, 102° and climbing. Hope Glen is sittin by the A/C and stayin cool.

After having my 2.5 y.o. grand niece visiting for a few days, it sure is quiet now that she has headed home. Three days of the local 'Animal Farm', hanging out at the beach, getting fries under the Bluewater Bridge sure has been a fun, action packed time. I think some good music and drink would be a good distraction.

2.5?..... Not 25?..... I'm guessing that wasn't the cutie...... Errr..... delightfully academic woman that you brought to the EBS.... (Hi Carter!)
I'll get you that ginger beer recipe in a moment Allan.... Sorry I've been remiss...
And I wasn't playing outside, Bobby.... I've been doing some veneer work in the barn..... Trying to get back into the swing of things....

I gotta go back out and do a little more.... Despite the excruciating pain it causes me, I'm kinda enjoying the mental exercise.... Kinda....

Ginger beer....
1 gallon water.
1 Lb. fresh ginger, peeled and minced, and mashed.
2 cups sugar.
1 pkg. dry yeast.
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Boil the mashed ginger and cinnamon in the water until it is reduced by half, then replace the missing water, and bring back to a boil. Add the sugar and cover the pot (off the stove) for a day or two. Bring it back to a boil, and then strain the mess through a mesh strainer, then cheese cloth, and when it gets down to room temp. add the yeast.
Give it a good stir, and bottle it in plastic resealable bottles. Leave them on their sides for 2-3 days, until they start to expand, then set them upright for a day or so. Then refrigerate them for at least 2 weeks, or a month.....
Open outside, and pray.....
It's definitely easier to use the ginger extract, sugar and yeast method, but you don't get the self propelled floaties bubbling up from the bottom....![]()

Nah..... Carter got home early, and then I realized it wasn't all that early, and I needed to start dinner, and then I remembered I hadn't posted the ginger beer recipe, and now I need to actually cook dinner..... But I shall return! Fear not!![]()

I was trying to post, but the Forum crapped out on me. So I'll try once more, then quit.
The fire made a run yesterday upslope through thick, beetle-killed timber, toward Foxpark and Albany, old mountain railroad and logging towns.
There were north winds forecast for today, which could be bad for us if the fire hooks around and jumps the highway, but I think it's too wet for a really wild run. And we're getting still more rain. We're not soaked, yet, but definitely damp.
I've been rigging a sprinkler hose on the deck, which hangs out over a slope. Those 1 x 1 railings are pretty good tinder. We're going to replace the whole thing with fire-retardant wood and synthetic decking.
On the Tomato front, I reckon I'm beat for big, fair and square. Maybe we should go for beauty.
But this plant is worth mentioning. It's a Johnny's #361, a cooking and salsa variety, that bore lots of fruit last fall. I pruned it way back and wintered it over, and this spring it revved up again, with larger tomatoes than before.
This is the third picking since the revival, 5 lbs. 6 oz. from a single plant.
When I look at this picture, I have to smile. Time for homemade salsa and chips.
Beers all round, with tequila & mezcal for the rough characters among us.
