First girl that chased me was named Bertha (I kid you not), and she was about twice as old as everybody else in that class at school.... And she was BIG. Not just because she was 18 and the rest of us were 10.... Bertha was what some of the polite parents called "Big boned", or she "Has a large frame"..... One less polite father said that she was fat, but his wife elbowed him in the ribs and said "Her mother really shouldn't let her wear horizontal stripes...." under her breath..... Bertha tossed me into a patch of nettles like I was a rag doll when I didn't respond positively to her advances......

OK.... That's it...... I'm freakin' freezing my fingers off here..... Time to fire up the wood stove.... Anyone else want a nice bowl of chili? There's vegetarian black bean chili, and our famous Butt ugly beef and pork chili.... Both are medium hot..... But there's Chief brand West Indian picante sauce to kick it up a notch or 3 if you'd like, and there's fresh crusty bread for mopping.....

Canoesz— that was a pleasant F-day photo of the kiddies in the boats. Thanks. I like boating with young folks, but have none of my own. So I take the dog. Not much help paddling, but she's always good for a lick or two.

Busy today— the usual ag-slavery plus dinner guests. Cooked deer tenderloin, one piece medium, one rare. Between garden and guests, I started building a motor mount for the wee skiff. Poked around in the shop for bits and pieces, then started cutting and drilling. Looks like junk at the moment, but it'll turn out well, I think.

Nice history of "Little Wing" Chip..... I want to say that Robin Trower did a cover of that too..... But now I'm not sure...... Seems like there's one from either the late 70s, or early 80s missing..... But then again, a lot of things from that time period seem to have gotten misplaced in my mind.....

I'm gonna try to not tax it again today, and hope it gets completely better.... And today is "Pay bills down at my father's place" day, so that should help.....

Today we have grilled Hawaiian style pork chops with white rice, and baby string beans.
There's fresh Sea Scallops spritzed with lemon juice, crushed garlic, black pepper, and tarragon, flash grilled over hardwood charcoal, and served with angel hair capellini and fresh basil pesto made with macadamia nuts instead of pignoli nuts..... (Just for fun)
There's grilled stuffed peppers and tomatoes, with white rice, onion, celery, mushrooms, lentils, and chopped artichoke hearts.
And we have beautiful NY strip steaks marinated in a sweet bourbon /brown sugar goop, grilled over hardwood charcoal, and served with corn on the cob, cucumber/onion salad, and decadent southern style potato salad......
