Well... so much fer my half a day. Finished sandin a little after noon then thought I might as well throw a coat of varnish on it seein as how it was such a nice day. then I figgured I'd throw a coat of varnish on what I sanded yesterday an when I finished an looked at my watch it was 6:30.

Sleep tight, Lefty.
Got a bunch of no-account chores done this morning. In the afternoon, I inflated a set of cat tubes and rigged the new paddle frame I bought last fall. The river's high enough to get down in a small boat without too much grief from the rocks. I'll take a solo run and make sure there aren't any bad logs or straggles of barbwire fence in the way. Then I can take the doggo.
Messing around on YouTube I found some new tunes. This duo sounds a bit like the Everly Brothers and a bit like the Indigo Girls, but they've got their own thing going: rhythmically very tight and the vocals are spotless
How about spicy tuna roll dipped in tempura batter and cooked in hot oil? I guess you could call it Chicken Fried Sushi.
Here's another tune. F**king gorgeous, I reckon.
Hi Guys,
How are you all doing this morning?
Thanks for all the menu suggestions and of course Chip as resident Pub sommelier
I'll have to remember some of it.
As usual the music is great .
Lisa Hannigan is always amazing.
As for the Rock well of course it's better than Bobby's "twang" but I'm a bit biased.
Have fun,
Sophie![]()
Bobby's twang is just fine thank you.Mornin, gents and ladies. Coffee is ready, hot and strong.
Some coffee for me, please Bobster
Morning Bobby-san(((((((((((((((((GONNNGGGGG)))))))))!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, been sitting out on the deck drinking my coffee and watching it get day light. In th 70s here this morning. Feeling better now.
70's.... Bastard...... It was 34f when I got up this morning.....
There's a new crop of baby gray squirrels out in the barn, just learning how to eat buildings... They're very cute, and still innocent enough to trust a human.... I couldn't stomp them to death when two of them fell off the roof right at my feet yesterday, but I was able to go inside to fetch the lead therapy stick.....
I think....... If it warms up some..... That I will try to do more siding work today, seeing as how it's not raining..... Yet.....

58° when i got up, but gonna go up to low 80s by afternoon. Nother day o sandin, no rain in sight till Sat/Sun for a slight chance.

Today, we shall attempt to have nothing but vegetable matter on the specials board.... Just so that our sensitive non-carnivorous patrons don't feel so....... Left out.....
(Is bacon still counted as a vegetable?)
Vegetarian Roti. Made with Dahl purri and aloo, some lentil, and calaloo. Served with deep fried rice cakes, and a small crisp side salad.
My sister's own vegetarian lasagna, made with zucchini, eggplant, and thick walled green peppers (as well as the other regular stuff). This isn't vegan, so there's cheese involved.Served with fresh garlic bread.
Vegetarian vegetable soup. This is a spicy soup, made with pureed jalapenos as well as a pile of other garden fresh plants..... Tomatoes, and carrots and stuff... Served with fresh crusty bread and sweet creamery butter.
Spinach souffle, with sliced mushrooms, and diced red and green sweet peppers, served with steamed baby string beans and butter, and pan fried potato hash.
Special on tap:Roast beef.

Had to water my crops, now maybe they will grow some.![]()
We finally got some rain and the lawn is starting to grow again. One of these days I'll figure out why I bother to add fertilizer and lime to make it grow, only to have to water and cut it.
Had a nice vegetarian dinner last night. Split a pita pocket in half. One half was spread with a nice olive hummus with sliced cucumber. The other half was put on a cookie sheet and covered with feta, chopped kalamata olives, red onion and tomato, dusted with some oregano and drizzled with a bit of olive oil and baked in the oven. Little bit of leftover tzatziki to put on the "pizza".
I'll have a glass of the draft (cattle), I guess... No, I don't think I want any head (cheese).
There's nothing more expensive than a "free" boat.
You are the Man Lefty!!
Well you have a few able assistants!
All those rumours that you were a grouchy, insensitive misanthrope were obviously unfounded
Those people advertising their basking in the sunshine while some of us are getting rained on. Now they just might qualify for those labels! I guess it makes you thirsty!
I had a couple of sausages for lunch! Salsa, beans, cilentrol, chilis!
Well they were vegan sausages with kalamata olive and sundried tomato.

So...... Sophie...... (No, that wasn't a stutter....) Are you vegan, or do you partake of cheeses, eggs, and such?
My sister was/is a vegetarian for the last 40+ years, but she always ate eggs and cheeses and occasionally fish. I called her a "vegetarian of convenience", for years but she finally wore me down...... Then she got remarried to a guy who smokes cigars, drinks scotch, and enjoys his beef rare.... And she started eating chicken and turkey on occasion.... Completely threw me off as far as holiday menu making......

Hi Lefty,
I'm vegan. It can get complicated sometimes with other people who are not but I've never had any health issues with it. There is a lot of misinformation about vegan stuff.
No leather, or wool, or Jello, or silk?..... I know some vegans, but they almost all have a few weak spots.... Jello and silk seem to be the most common.

There is a vegan "Jello-like" substitute out there...

G' day Lefty, Bobby, Chris, Sophie, Canoez. ..
Veganism. Its quite a trip, my mother in law was a strict vegan when Mad and I first got together about 20 years ago. We shared an acreage with my MIL so had many meals at her place. By osmosis we tended to eat that way for the most part for a spell at our place. My memories are soya milk sucks, tofu is tollerable and you can make a lot of bean dishes that are really good. Egg plants OK too, what's that Greek dish with egg plant... can't remember but its nice as well. To this day Mad still makes a killer vegetarian lasagna leaving want for nothing to me. ..
At some point my MIL decided to add some fish to her diet. I think the doctor recomended more omega 3 so she instead of popping pills she decided to add oysters only to her diet at first, now she enjoys salmon and cod as well. She's in her 80s now and is extremely active and healthy following the vegan thing strictly still except the fish. When the fishing gets good up here we freeze or can extra for mum, she prefers it that way versus political issues with some of the commercially caught stuff.
One more cuppa for me please. ..
G'day Lefty, Sophie, Canoez, ChrisBen, Il Bobsterino.
It's ANZAC day, celebrated in Australia and New Zealand, to commemorate their losses in war during the 20th century and to date. Since the losses were disproportionate in the two great wars, it's a solemn occasion.
In honour of that, here's some additions to the menu: ANZAC biscuits (crisp, sweet cookies made with oats, golden syrup, etc.) to go with coffee. Whitebait fritters. Assorted sausages. Grilled hapuka and crays. Filet of wild boar, red deer, and emu with various reductions. Roast kumara. Pumpkin soup. A bush salad of wild greens with Hawke's Bay olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
A case of my favourite wines from Oz and EnZed (D'Arenberg, McWilliams, Mt. Difficulty, Alpha Domus, Stonyridge, Kim Crawford) with beers and ales from Speight, Monteith, and K. B. Tooth.
If Seanz happens by, he might give us a song or two.
We can play bowls on the lawn after, or have a wee regatta.

Good afternoon Mr.Chip. Sounds like some pretty good fixins ya got there.
I just don't think green beans with out bacon and pinto or navy beans without hamhock would ever work for me.![]()
Mousaka.
Lawn bowls.... I like that game. My father was exceptionally good at it, and almost never lost until we started changing the rules to make it harder for him.
ANZAC! I'd forgotten! So sorry! I usually remember this one......
I've just come in from freezing my finger tips off doing some much needed yard maintenance. Waaaay too windy and cold to tackle any of the house repair jobs today, but I did go pick up the gutter parts that were mis-ordered before. They still won't work, because they're absolute garbage, but at least they're the proper garbage.... And I'm just crawling with ticks.... Picked 3 off of me while I was sitting here waiting for the computer to respond....

I hear ya Bobby. LOL my brother in law was receiving some nudging from his family that he should get more fibre in his diet. He says meat has fibre! Cut into a T bone and have a look there's fibres all through it![]()

We eat our green beans steamed with a lashing of butter or a dash of soy sauce or balsamic. Or sauteed in butter with almonds. Never cooked 'em with bacon. The dry beans are good in so many dishes that I won't even start. But I make a lot of Mediterranean-style things with beans and what-have-you: leftover rice, green tomatoes, carrots, assorted greens, coarse corn meal, et many ceteras. The Wolf Goddess makes chili with beans, while I prefer it without, and beans on the side.
I love beans.

Right now every seam in my vinyl guttering has about an inch gap This stuff was installed as directed. It sags between the brackets and for the most part looks like it is falling off the house. Not so bad if it is outa sight, but theres no outa sight on my house. I hope you have better results with yours.
