Mid-century modern, eh? Dunno, it's popular at the moment here, and especially with the decorating commitee in this house but is it "Pub"? We'll just have to try it and see.
Mind you, some of those chairs are challenging to get out of after a few libations.
Just as long as you don't get rid of my green Chesterfield couch over by the jukebox.

And we're keeping the hammock? Yeah? Glen loves that hammock.
We don't know how lucky we are....

I like that look a lot! It's more..... "Road house".... Or "Tavern" looking to me..... But it's a nice look....
Warmed up nice here. I'm taking the opportunity to clean out the ash from the wood stove..... I won't actually let the fire go out, mind you..... Just die down enough to shovel a bucket of ash out and dump it on the garden.....
Just got back from my father's house again.... Some of the big bamboo fell over in that wind we had the other day..... So I guess I gotta go back down with a saw and some clippers before the weekend....... Like maybe now-ish.....

I will probably need a double shot of Mezcal when Mr.Left tells me he cut that bamboo into small pieces.

OK...... Done w/the stove cleaning..... The 'Boo is about 3" Dia, and 35-40' tall.... The wall thickness is only about 1/4" though, and the sections between the joints, or rings if you will is about 2' long..... I thought about bow stock for ya Bobby.... If you'd like a piece I can send it, but I don't know anything about it's suitability for making bows... I suppose you could make one and we'd find out now, wouldn't we? How long?... 6'? I could split 'em into quarters for you if you'd like.

That sounds really good, They tell me it is really good for bows. Sounds like you may know more than you tell.

That's my home base, about two miles from the house. It used to be a pretty rough joint, when there was a mountain railroad and lots of logging, but it's settled down a lot. In summer we can put a boat in below our house, run the whitewater, and pull out at the bar. (That's better than having a bar at the launch ramp.)

More fine log-work: look at those roof trusses.
I like the look too but those rafters worry me. Maybe it'd be OK if they was greased up real good to keep Bobby from swinging off 'em.

I think that is more of a Glen and Amber thing. I would be out on that dance floor.

Decorating should be done by accident - whatever the local patrons donate to the cause should dictate the look. I have this fine 1970ish pleather sofa in puke green you can use. It's actually in good condition because my grandmother kept it covered in clear plastic and never let anyone sit on it.

Maybe the power will stay on long enough to post this. Tuesday a bunch of power lines blew down and Wednesday they had our power on and off most of the day. Well it just went off and came back on. Coffee please. This wind is gettin on my nerves.

I see some folks talking about big solar flares..... Which explains a lot! I just figured it was David G and Chip lighting farts....
S'posed to be warm here today, but windy. Which could be good..... Or not..... I'll take it as long as it's not rain!

I'm all about the Reuben... Mebbe a bit of cole slaw on the side, too.

Have to skip the 3 Philosophers, tho. Not my taste. Perhaps a bit of He'brew instead?

Bobby, hang in there. Don't dwell on things, try to keep going as normal as possible. Try to keep your significant other at ease. I do not speak of the subject with my siblings, just try to take care of any necessary "business" in advance. The less you think about it the smoother your life will be. Hey Bobby..... I got one piece quartered, and after it gets flattened, it'll be about 1 5/8" wide..... If I leave em in halves you'd get (duh) twice that.... They split very easily. Do you still want em all quartered before I mail em, or would halves maybe be better for you? (There's 3 pieces about 7' long 2 1/2"-3" Dia.)

Cinnamon rolls and coffee it is then.

And here's to linemen, they are as Gods to us.

After the quakes they worked till they dropped. Course they sharpened up a bit after the first day in Sept.....the flash/bang when the 400v arced under the road down the end of our block really put a spring in SWIMPAL's step. Ya can't just fix a break and fire it up, they had to go for a drive and see what else was broken first.

Lefty that video reminds me of this crazy kid I met. Well, he's probably mid 20s no kid. See at our last place we had a pretty nice view but there were a lot of deseased alders and some evergreens that were in the way of the money shot. They were on a downslope property owned by a fellow who didn't live there just had it as a holding property or whatever. I met him and asked if I could at my cost remove some of the trees, I was up front saying I wanted to improve the view but pointed out that they were dead on the tops and ready to come down one of these storms. He was a nice guy but a tree hugger, and his french Canadian wife a super tree hugger so that wasn't on. I asked about doing some aireal limbing to clean the trees and help out with our view. They were down with that.

So falling the trees I was up for. As long as no one was within a tree length of them in any point of the compass I would be able to drop them with realative safety I figured. Climbing and limbing? Never learned that and at 51 I don't intend to. So I hired young dude from the next island over who learned the arborist trade down in the city and came back home and started a lil company. Anyways, great guy and could climb like a bugger - he did some logging as a kid too.

So up he goes on this POS Alder that by any sence in the world should have been dropped. Spurring and cutting his way up with spikes and a belt using a way cool little Stihl saw all hopped up that hung by a carbiner when he climbed. He gets near the top asking me if he'd gone high enough, I give him the thumbs up. He spurs about half way down and stops. He takes his pack sack off and throws it to the ground. WTF?? Line spews out of the pack as its falling and he jumps straight off the side of the tree, falls about 8 feet then swings in a big circular path about 40 feet over to another tree which he grabs gracefully like a squirrel and throws his belt around it. Silly bugger scared the hell out of me, I'd never seen that!! He tells me later that he used to do a lot of rock climbing, says its a big time saver. He had some cool knot he showed me that I forgot, that he could release from down below that he tied to the top of the last tree, and get his line back. ..

Halves will work or whole which ever is easiest for you.

Yeah..... I know a couple of climbers that'll do that..... They tend to be slightly nihilistic I think..... Most of them seem to burn out and either burst into figurative flames, or fizzle and smolder....
One of my best childhood friends is a tree guy out in Oregon..... or Washington..... Has a tree top tourism business, where you can book an afternoon, or up to a long weekend up in the tree tops using nothing but zip lines and ropes to get around..... Complete with meals, bedding, and such...... I once asked him what sort of meals they served up there..... "Not chili!" he said.....
