It was a foggy damp night on the North Coast.
I thought I heard the fog horn off in the distance, but then, I realized it sounded more like bagpipes.

Damp, drizzling, dark.... And the freakin' Dingo starts blabbing as soon as his freakin' eyes open!
Clearly we need to upgrade his palate. I made two pizzas for him to feed on after his arduous journey, and he only ate one slice from one pie....."Overcooked"..... If anything I'd say they were slightly undercooked, but what does he know? Oh.... And he doesn't like olives....
Sliced turkey breast with mayonaise, lettuce, tomato, roasted sweet red peppers, sliced sweet onion, salt and pepper, on a hard roll. Chips and a pickle on the side.
Beef and barley soup, with diced carrots, celery, and onion.
Rotisserie leg of lamb served medium rare, with wild rice pilaf, asparagus, and a small bowl of strong broth.
Special on tap: Mendocino Brewing Company's White Hawk Select IPA

What's going on in here tonight? Who's going to join me in a tot of Old Rum in a toast to Shane's health? Can you believe he's actually here?
Steven
Yes..... I can!.....
Another foul, gloomy, wet day. Poor Shane's gonna start growing mushrooms behind his ears....
Angel hair pasta with pesto and fresh marinara, piled high with mussels steamed in white wine and shallots. A loaf of crusty garlic bread on the side.
Super thin sliced pastrami on lightly toasted rye bread with melted gruyere cheese, mustard, sauerkraut, and thousand islands dressing. Served with thick cut steak fries, and dill pickles.
Shrimp by the dozen, with zesty horseradish cocktail sauce.
Special on tap: Samuel Adam's Summer Ale.

Damn at the birthdays today. Might as well make a day of it eh?![]()
Another gloomy, drizzly, foggy, gross, damp morning. This is beggining to really drag a guy down. At least we had a couple of hours of sunshine yesterday afternoon. Just enough to get the mold and mildew spores really blooming....
Lamb stew with potatoes, onions, and carrots served over white rice, with asparagus on the side.
Boiled pound and a half lobsters served with drawn butter, and hand cut fried potatoes.
Thick sliced honey baked ham with mustard, lettuce, tomato, and Vidalia onion, served on lightly toasted sourdough. Chips and a pickle.
Special on tap: Little Kings Cream Ale.

Dog hair..... nope.... But we have Dingo hair all over the place these days!
I think it's nice enough (considering the past week) to crank up the grill on the back porch. Ribeye steaks, Country style pork chops, marinated chicken parts, Lamb shish-ka-bab, and Tuna steaks. There's a big vat on the ring burner with Old Bay crab boil spice and a big pile of shrimp. Fresh corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, and anti-pasto.
Special on tap: Guinness Extra Stout.

Where'd you get fresh corn?
It is a great day for a steak and a stout, but I'm leaning toward the tuna for some reason.
Any wasabi mustard back there?
I think Ashley's is doing a ginger ice cream this week. Killer.
Knowledge: Tomatoes are fruit.
Wisdom: Tomatoes do not belong in fruit salad.
Corn from GFC of course....I imagine it comes from Florida originally.... Wasabi mustard we have. Ginger icecream.....Interesting concept....

Personally I'll take a Long Trailover the stout anyday horrid black soup that muck is

Hi Lefty,
Please buy Dingo a pint of something decent from me, in deference to his taste for peely wally beer, one of these might be appropriate.
Can't make it to the Pub tonight, CinC Nag Home bought me a bag of mussels and a bottle of Gallo Family chardonnay semillon to cook them in. Could not waste the bottle once it was opened now could I?![]()
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
Dingo has decided that Long Trail Ale is his beer of choice. He'll bring a case or two south with him, as I've informed him that decent beer is really not available south of DC....

I'll bet Shane would like a Rolling Rock beer.
......and a big bowl of spicy chili.
That's the "Midnight Special" at my house.

He likes Rollin Rock too.

Dingo prolly wouldn't like RR. He doesn't like the Lager that Jim Ledger left here.
And apparently he doesn't care much for spicy food either. I was warned to make the tacos "Mild" last night, and he only ate 5 of them.... Buffalo style chicken wings just about gave him apoplexyofcourse he didn't order them here at the pub, but rather at a waterfront resaurant.... Nothing like ordering chicken at a seafood joint....
If it stops raining I'll whip up a big steak on the grill for him tonight...

How about a round of these on me?
Bright copper in color it has an assertive hop bitterness balanced with a subtle malt foundation. Dry hopped at two states of the brewing process provides floral and fruity hop flavors. 2-row English malt [pale, crystal and black]; Cascade, Mt. Hood and Golding hops.

Before the big mirobrewery explosion here in the US Bellhaven used to be one of my favorites. Fortunately for me Bellhaven was one of the breweries Dave Geary apprenticed in before he started his own brewery right here in Portland in 1986.
Steven
You think we can get Dave Geary to brew a "clone"?It was one of my favorites too. At the time, I was a poor bachelor and a 4 pack was about 12 bucks or so. Still, it was worth the occasional splurge.
Geez... That would explain the Geary's Hampshire Ale in casks at the Great Lost Bear! (DOH!)
