My 1950 Matthews has a white running light at the bow facing forward, then separate red and green lights on the cabin, then an all around white light at the aft end of the cabin. There are two switches, one for the stern all-around, and the other switch turns on the rest. I am taking a class to get the CT boat drivers license, and I see that my boat does not fit any of the accepted combinations of nav lights for vessels. It looks to me like I need to disable the forward facing white light on the bow. Does anyone know why this is? Do all boats from the 50's have this same combination that somehow became outdated? When did the standards change? All of my lights I am sure are original equipment, judging from their age and original photos of the boat.
