Good book on the Flying Enterprise

In the winter of 1952, Kurt Carlsen was captain of this freighter whose cargo shifted in a mid-Atlantic rogue wave, leaving her a dead ship, listing 60+ degrees with a cracked hull and unshipped rudder. He successfully got his crew and passengers off and stayed with the ship over the harrowing days that it took to get her under tow. The story is a real classic and very gripping. The end is shocking.

I remember the incident, the british public was rivited. The tug Turmoil had the tow until the FE finally capsized. The Chain Locker pub in Falmouth had a glass case with Carlson´s life jacket and other memorabilia. This was among masses of photos and other bits from Cornwall´s wrecking past.
Hope the pub is still there.

Welcome Bjarne, good to have you aboard. There are rules about selling stuff here but I don't think you have transgressed. I too remember the name of the ship even though I was only 11 at the time. My father, not long out of the navy, talked about it and it was in the papers.
