    Default cosine wherry question

i am presently building a cosine wherry and right now i am setting up the transom. the book which comes along with the plans implies that somewhere on the plans is a layout for a backer board arrangement to clamp the transom to at it's station. i dont see this in the plans and need to know whether to wing it or search in the book someplace...also what thickness is this form as the transom is offset from the station line by the thickness of this board........thnx bk

BK- I am familiar with the Cosine Wherry from photos only. I would hope you recieved plans/offsets with the book for building. It sounds as though this is a plans package with full size station loftings and no plans...??... since this question has come up. Typically the Transom outer/aft face will be your reference datum for reduction to your jig face for holding the Transom in the set up,ie 3/4" transom. If you have no dimension numbers to guide you from the book, nor plans indicating location you have two options as far as I can imagine. One-wait for a sure to come soon reply from someone with actual C'Whry history. Two- experiment. If it has a plumb transom(doubt it, but I don't recall ever seeing the stern- just that very hollow entrance) I would start by setting it up on the same station spacing as the others. Being intended for amatuer building I would imagine it is as simple a layout as possible. Then you will check with a batten(s) to see where it looks correct, and trial and error until it works-hope I never have to do it. If you are building on a ladder frame set it up on a sled type arrangement so it is easy to move it fore and aft on your ladder frame, and up and down on whatever vertical/raked arrangement you establish to hold the Trnsm. Not easy nor preferrable, and hopefully you will get the easy reply from a Cosine'd Forumite.
A few years ago you could call flounder and get the answer I imagine, but are the plans out of print now? The book is still available...? It must be in the book somewhere...
