Merry Christmas to you and your family too, Joe.

Really glad you're ok, and thanks for staying in touch and letting us know how you're doing.

Careful with that burning the candle at both ends thing. I'm sure this is impacting your family time too. Can you work your way out of one job??

Damn! Glad you're alright (you're gonna have to have a whole bandolier full of cars at this rate.)

Actually, stay away from the pickups if you are concerned about safety. I have a friend who was an EMT and she said pickups tend to really wierd (and bad) things in accidents because the weight distribution is so strange -- really light in the back. Putting something in the back doesn't help much because in a serious accident that stuff is likely to go flying.

With the caveat that free advice is worth what you pay for it, you ought to read the book "First You Have to Row a Little Boat" by Richard Bode. It's really an allegory for life, and all of us who believe in the power of sailing are in it.
I don't know you from anywhere but this forum, but you sure resemble the sailor on page 51, who "tacks too soon, jumping from job to job...losing headway at every turn."

Glad to hear you're still around.

Driving is OK - Sleeping is OK - doing both at the same time is NOT OK.

Get another Volvo - good safe cars.

Good to see you are ok. From the looks of the video, you are still doing 100mph standing still though. I worked 2 jobs for over 15 years and still find it hard to break that 3 am bedtime habit and I haven't worked weekends or a full double shift in 5 years.I took the hit in added income because it was adding so many years to my life.It will get you one way or the other.

What car was this accident in, Joe?

I was stopped in traffic once, waiting for a light, and a pickup was driving down the other lane in the opposite direction. He was clipped on the back bumper by another car entering from a side street. The pickup flipped right over on it's roof in a flash and the driver and passenger were thrown out. The most awful thing I've ever seen.
So glad you survived relatively unscathed.

Amazing thing was the EMS that took me in said I was the best shape accident victim they ever had , she could not get over how good my HR & BP were. For the day they had me in the hospital I clocked my resting pulse at under 50 one time, mostly it was about 56 bpm. The nurses kept saying I had an amazing BP readings. I had to take a stress test before they would release me and I obviously passed. Ok enough of the WBF the dinning room is full

One of the funnies things ive ever seen was the BBC "Ski Sunday" Crash and burn sequence - where they took all the ski crash video from a season's races and put them together over that track..

When you crashed, your thoughts weren't on where you were and on what could happen, your thoughts were somewhere else.

Happens a lot (to me as well), but shouldn't. If you fly in an Airplane, you expect the Pilot to be fully concentrated on flying. A car is a pretty dangerous machine.

FYI follow up I called the place where they towed my car too, the guy who answered the phone was in shock that I was the guy who was in the wreck calling. He said he has seen a lot of accidents, and was sure that the Driver of this one would never call anyone ever again.

He said I had to see the aftermath of the wreck.
Could be a real scary thing to see
So Monday I will go look and maybe take a little video. Also Monday I pick up my new/old Volvo.

A side note about living in a small town and running a restaurant I now get to hear all the gossip first hand. My accident has blossomed into a full blown tall tale. It seems I was out carousing around possibly with young women involved (I was alone in the car ) drunk and I was arrested for my second DWI ( Note: I have never been arrested for ANY DWI ) Oh but I was in big trouble, spending some serious time in the pokey. When the fact remains I was given a field sobriety test on the scene and a blood test at the hospital and as you can see I was not arrested. People in the restraunt last night looked visibly shocked to see me walking around and not in orange jumpsuit

Ahhh small town tavern owner you got to love it.

Reminds me of the scene in the movie Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle when psyco Neil Patrick Harris takes the car for a joy ride.

    Great freakin movie

If you insist on being a movie-maker you must hire a stuntman, Joe.
Leave the car wrecks to the stuntman!

Or hire a good screenwriter to come up with a script that does not include car wrecks.
Sounds like you're running from the devil, but he's hitching a free ride on your shoulder.
    Glad you escaped serious injury!

    Hello Joe,
Glad to hear you are ok after your accident, we are selling my wife's car as I can't drive anymore and she would rather drive my expedition. Sounds like you might need a car.
If and when you ever have time could you post a site or other directions to doing the videos online. I have a webcam, never been hooked up, and Debbie has a video camera. I think it would be fun to post some how to type things.

Look man - you just dont get it, do you?

You have an old house, and old boat - and the wit to realise that these are more stylish than the new equivalent.

The same goes for cars - get something with 1 horsepower - and a single horse at the front - that way if you fall asleep there is still a fair chance of getting home - and it might work for the real estate game.

Joe has a steel toed head, he doesn't need common sense. This is why we try to discourage New Yorkers from visiting New England. They just don't get it. (Kinda like the rest of you....) Sure they can be ammusing on occasion, but in general..... Just another obstacle in the road you have to slow down for, and drive around....

Joe; Unsolicited thought, take it for what its worth.
"Real estate thing during the day, restaurant until 2 am" another car wreck.

Please Please take time for you wife and daughter. I am sure you are doing what you think is best for your family, but if you are not there with them...

I know lots of kids that have grown up without a dad at home. Some dads worked too much, some dads dead from a car wreck...

At the end of life, I have never heard a father say "I should have spent more time at work" what is normally said is "I should have spent more time at home".

    Good luck

I hear ya loud and clear Jack.

Both jobs are somewhat flexible. I still get Tess ready for school every morning and pick her up everyday since my wife works a 8-4 real job I also take her to most of her after school activities, and movies and other fun stuff. FWIW she kinda likes coming into the restaurant with me and helping out or just eating some chicken fingers and root-beer, or pretending to wait tables or help the girls with side work .

I spend a lot of time with her since both jobs are just in town and I don't have to commute everyday into the city like most dads in town. I'm one of those dads that is at every school function, play and after school activity. I sit with all the moms who's husbands are still on the 6:05 out of Grand Central

But I do need to manage the sleep better, I'm also working with my new partner at the restaurant so we can relieve each other and rest. He also lives in town so it's easy for either one of us to cover each other.

Again thanks for all the concern, I get what your saying and trust me I'm aware of it.

OK I have to get Tess off to school and me off to work

I was just on the phone reporting the accident with LaQuita from Progressive Insurance and she asks me if I was driving the vehicle I said ...... nope, I was napping

I think I actually heard her spew coffee all over the place, she was laughing so hard
