Guys, I need some help with this one. I am forwarding you an e - mail wich I have sent to Sparkman & Stevens, and got no answer.
Dear sir, I have bought a Sailmaster 22 d few months ago and I am planing to restore her. I have started with mast and got it like new, varnished and shiny. I want to change all the standing rigging but I have a few doubts. I hope you can help me with this:
1)First of all, I am not sure which shroud is outer and which is inner. At some sail plans of Sailmaster 22, available on web(www.sailmaster.nl), it seems like upper (cap)shroud connects to the inner fitting on the deck. Is this the case with Sailmaster 22 d also?
2) At the same plans, ( scaned in a low resolution), I think I have read it correctly, diameters of wire rope are 3/16 for upper shrouds and both stays and 7/32 for inner shrouds. All made of 1x19 wire rope.
Could you verify this information?
Other thing that I would like to know is: were those wire ropes made of 304 or 316 grade steel. If the 304 grade steel is the case, could you suggest me how much should I increase wire diameter from that specified in a sail plan.
