    Default Half-hull models?

I have always liked the half-hull model as a perpetual trophy and am considering getting one for our Dragon event next march. I have looked tonight for companies who feature a Dragon half-hull in their catalogs but have found only one (a company in Michigan). I am pretty sure that I have seen some others in the past but am coming up short tonight.

Has anyone had any experience in ordering these things? What kind of lead time do they usually require? I have seen a price of $275 but the last time that I looked it seemed like there was a builder in Scandinavia who was charging something like 600 euros! I want this to be nice but $750 dollars is a little high (I will be paying for this out of my own pocket).

I had thought about naming this the 'Willawaw' trophy, and having the colors of the boat matched to those of the Gold medal winning US boat from the 1968 Olympic games. That crew of Buddy Friedrichs, O.J. Young, and Barton Jahnke from New Orleans represents both the height of accomplishment and the beginning of the decline of Dragon sailing on the Gulf Coast, as the fleet died around here after it's replacement in the Olympic games by the Soling. We are hoping this event will give Dragon sailing a shot in the arm both here locally and in North America as a whole.

Anyway, as always, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

If you have the drawings I can have a model built for you and finished to your specs in Thailand....last time I did this it ran about 300 bucks delivered....I have no commercial interest in this but if you contact Raoul Bianchetti at Raouls sailing (internet) and send an e-mail he can get it done...

These guys in Newport make nice models and list the Dragon as one they have lines and prices for, but no picture. http://www.tridentstudio.com/models/c-g.html I have a Shields and was very impressed with their model in their picture shown... but I'd already made my own, so saved some o-o-p $$ when I wanted one.

Here's a picture of one of their Star Class models so you can judge their accuracy: http://www.tridentstudio.com/models/.../starclass.jpg

    Good luck.

    Default Thanks guys.

This is a big help. I had kind of set a $500 limit on this and it looks like I can do that.

    Much appreciated.
