    Default Bay Area

I'm going to be in the San Francisco area this weekend and would like to find a chandlery that carries used equipment. Can any one suggest a place?

Oooh - a tough one! There USED to be several in Sausalito, but I've heard that they've gone away. There USED to be one in South SF, but I've heard that they moved to Oakland - http://www.outboardmotorshop.com/

What are you looking for? A search on www.latitude38.com and SF Bay Area Craigslist (www.craigslist.org) might be handy....

There USED to be one in Berkeley, but now closed.

Yeah, the Bay Area has become a sorry place for old timey boat gear.

I noted that The Castaways http://www.cast-aways.com/ used boat gear in Rancho Cordova (90 miles from Bay Area) indicated in their website that they would be at the Sequoia Yacht Club swap meet in Redwood City (30 miles south of SF) on June 17th. Phone number for the Yacht Club is in the above website under "Swap Calendar".

Seems to me that someone mentioned a place up north (Napa?) Ring a bell, anybody?

Say Thorne, I've been in the Outboard Motor Shop in Oakland and didn't see any used hardware. Pretty much looked like brand new motors and plastic speedboats.

Thanks, Les -- very handy calendar!

Well, when the Outboard Motor Shop was in SSF they had a lovely collection of old junk -- right down my alley as I was repairing my Seagull smokescreen device at the time.

Another one bites the dust and all that....

Anyway, Gaff -- whatcha looking for?

Yeah, between Thorne and myself, we've probably got one of 'em in our garage.

Well, I like just poking around. I have an old cutter similar to Brian M's (also designed by Bill Garden) that is actually in pretty good shape. Right now the only thing I have on my list is a used small bronze cowl vent. You mean one of you has that in the garage?!! I'm actually going to be in Millbrae on the 17th so might head south to the swap.

All sorts of lovely stuff hereabouts -

This guy **might** have more bronze stuff, if he's the guy I think he is -- a storage unit full of big boat hardware (don't remember seeing any vents, tho) -
