    Default mini pinch

My first thought ( like Ross ) was 'NICE minilites'

In our family if someone sees a mini they give the person nearest them a pinch and utter "minipinch".
causes havoc what with the ongoing ramifications.....

    Nice mini.

John, you would be safe from the "pinch" around here..I think I have the only "classic" mini for miles.
    Thanks for the compliments.

Joe if you've got the Fiat you'll want one of these.

    Talking Slugbug!!!!!

When I was a kid we'd yell SLUGBUG!!! and punch the other person in the arm, everytime we spotted a Volkswagon Beetle.

They were everywhere back then and I often had a sore arm.

I had a 1966 ragtop bus like this, when I was a new driver.
My first and best car ever.

    A real Hippymobile.

A VW beetle is 'BEETLEbeetlebeetlebeetlebeetle etc "until the colour is guessed or seen.
It too can be quite annoying.
Modern minis get counted too David and they're two a penny. Its get in first or get defending.

What's the colour? ( I liked the dark colour myself but she looks sweet in the pale green I must say)
Is it a Cooper ?or Cooper S? or tweaked?
There's an early mini down the road from me with its pooor wee backside poking out of a falling down garage. I should go and photo it.

Have I told the Fiat bambina cat story?

Me Mudder had a bambina ( a fit of insanity) for a wee while. She'd just sold her normal car and now she had that unit sitting on the front lawn. So, we're standing there yakking with a neighbour this particular afternoon when along comes Harvey. Harvey was a mean nasty stuck up world owes him a living bum licking walking set of claws that was used to spending time in the sun on the roof of the car.
So along comes this antichrist of a cat and it delicately sproings off the lawn onto the bonnet of the 'new' car, barely touches and takes the next leap onto the roof.
'cept the sunroof is open .
Well, this cat catches the back edge of the sunroof with its front claws while its body disappears into the car and like a gymnast on a high bar it partially completed a 'revolution' until it smacked the rear window and ceiling liner on the upswing, let go or detached itself and fell into the car.

ROFL. I mean literally. Both of us. stomach cramp material. Friggin neighbour stood there deadpan. Had nothing between his ears ,poor old Bill.

    Thats beautiful Dan.
Floor rusted out on mine and the motor caught fire and burned up.
I still have dreams I'm driving it.
I wish I had it dead or alive, in my yard now.

It's promised to my brother in law. He's really good with sheet metal. I just don't know if he's that good or that patient.

Which reminds me. I'm supposed to send him a CD of van pictures. It weighs 6.5 oz. (The CD, not the van). Thirty nine cents for the first ounce, but how much for each additional ounce?

    (Talk about thread drift....)

No idea, Nemo. I got it free for the hauling, at Jami's urging. Once BIL looks over the pictures they'll decide if it's worth hauling back to Wisconsin for a major rebuild. It should be noted that this came from literally two doors down from Hellen and Scott Nearing's place. That part of town has a lot of back-to-the-land hippies.

What's a dooryard ? (why do I just know what you're going to say) OK OK. why would you have a yard dedicated to doors?

we, ( like every other kiwi and aussie in the world) , travelled around europe in a kombi van. A bit later model than that.
You don't see them here much anymore but they're like a cult in Aussie I'm told.

John B, most Americans don't use that term. It seems to be a Maine thing. Most would say driveway and lawn, as two distinct things. The dooryard is the yard, including driveway, outside the most used door in my house. At present it contains two non-functioning tractors, the bus, the box sides for my trailer, several trash cans, several pulley driven piston water pumps, some scrap metal roofing and lumber, my truck cap, two bicycles from the dump, a steam box, some wheelbarrow and cart parts, two garden carts, and 600' of 8' chain link fence (which is for sale). It's a bit too much of a mess and gets driven through too much to call it a lawn. Perhaps I should clean some.

A friend had a Toyota PU truck (this was some years ago... while he was in grad school). One night, driving home in a snow storm, the cap detached itself from the bed and flew off into the night. This fella is a bit cheap, so he didn't want to loose the cap. He turned around and retraced his tracks (easy to do in the snow) until he spied the cap. He picked the cap up and tossed it into the bed. There was this slow crunchy sound as the bed sank, ever so slowly, onto the roadway.

Now, for a VW microbus that can't be beat, ya gotta stuff a Corvair engine into it. Wakes it right up, don't ya know.

Read long ago that Porsche stuffed 911 engines in VW vans to use as support vehicles while testing cars in Northern Africa. Drivers got tired of waiting hours for the parts cars and mechanics to show up.
