    Default Strange Wenda Progress

The sheathed ply deck & oak rubrails and toerail are on, taken today:

    More new snaps here: Constance

Fabian and I hatched the idea today of having the compass and instruments on a washboard, to be stowed inside and replaced with a blank one when boat unattended. Still leaves room for entry / egress over them, keeps them on the C/L and avoids cutting holes in his lovely bulkhead.

We should be launching in 2 months or so. We have to be afloat and shaken down in time for the annual Albert Strange meet on the East Coast of England at the end of August...

    Default Uffdah!

Still looking mighty fine. Way to go. Did you have a hard time deciding on a builder, or do builders like Fabian Bush grow on trees over there?

Not exactly on trees, no. I called Fabian because of another boat, Molly Cobbler, whose clinker hull he built a few years ago and I liked the look of.

Sorry the snap is so small, best I can find online. This is a cabin version of Paul Fisher's 18ft Tosher design, and her building was written up in Water Craft. From her story it seemed likely Fabian would respond well to my rugged vision for Constance, and that I would benefit from having my preconceptions leavened by his experience. Presumably what any good client/builder relationship should be, and this is exactly how it's turned out. Only after choosing him did I discover just what a consummate artisan he is.

    Dick,

Looking just wonderful. Mr. Bush does some fine, fine work. What a treat it's going to be sitting to leeward, watching that long, graceful bow slicing the waves.
