Like those fenders!! Anyone know 'how to'??

Not sure, but I suspect that they are automobile tires covered with rope netting then bearding is tied into the netting. Ashley's book described both.

Tires are too large and out of scale...get some old garden tractor tires or if you are near a small airport, check there for small aircraft tires...they have to pay to dump them...

I have seen that boat and they are not tires. I didn't study the construction at the time, but is more in the order of pudding or carefully laid knots.

There is a 16' Godzilla at his shop. If I remember, I will take my camera and take some pictures next time I am there.

A quote from the construction notes on Devlin's website.

"There are tow bits forward and aft, substantial things of heavy wood construction with grown knees for reinforcement at the decks. A mast with the required 3 white towing lights shown and that about sums it up except for the excellent fenders that Barbara Merry made for us. A bow puddin forward for pushing and six fenders at the sides for coming up against a barge, dock, or boat. The fenders are aircraft tires with a puddin of baggywrinkle for chafe resistance. All and all she looks very workmanlike as she sits at the dock waiting to start her days worth of work."

As a fan of Godzilla I remembered that part of the notes.
Does the boat look as good in the flesh as it does in the photos?
My concern has been that the height of the main wheelhouse may seem a bit tall and narrow seen from the front and quarter views.

I am a fan of Devlin's designs. I don't think anything is out of proportion, IMHO. I jsut went to the construction photos and I think I see the picture you are refering to. That picture has been changed in some fashion. It is not skinny and tall (looking like it got squished from the sides). Probably re-sized and the proportions were changed.

I crawled around the 22' when it was being built, bigger than you would think.

The 16' is 'cute'. Functional but small. The 16' is at his shop as his personal toy. Here again, I could take some other pictures if they would help you with perspective. No access to the 22'.

As I posted in another thread, I already have the Godzilla 22 plans,
and yep, that particular photo is the one I was referring to. I had realized it had been squeezed a bit, but impossible to tell how much.
The proportions certainly look great in all the other views.
I realize it's a fair lump of a boat, and I think I'll have a go at a small dingy in the same construction first.
